Emerson Clark checks a box on her college financial aid application saying she is Bloodkin and her life is changed forever. College tuition paid for, job secured, and security at all times. Years later, she is a mediator on a case between two Bloodkin families about some remains that were found, and who they belong to. The mediator must be Bloodkin, and even though still skeptical about this Bloodkin thing, she accepts the job. She was actually a pretty funny character to read. She didn't have any fear of these dragons because she thought it was all made up. As she mediates, she thinks they are just rich people playing some weird role playing game. Dragons weren't real! Thane Ealdian was close to the end of his life, his dragon very close to the surface. When he meets Emerson, his dragon is intrigued and he enlists her aid in finding out who killed his wife and child, the centuries old remains that were found. I thought this was a good introduction to Erin Kellison's Bloodkin world. I was a newcomer and saw this world through Emerson's eyes. Discovering this world right alongside her. Her skepticism would've been my own as well, and her voice was realistic. She and Thane had some great chemistry, and I liked how he was wise versus her naïveté, giving the reader a view of the same world but from different perspectives. If you are interested in dragon shifters and a good mystery, then pick up this book and give it a try. I was intrigued enough that I purchased the second in the series!

Dragons, intrigue, and action. Captured me from the first pages. Emerson does not believe that she has dragon blood and since becoming involved with the Bloodkin – a dragon society – she is definitely convinced she doesn’t and wants nothing more to do with them. She doesn’t even believe there are dragons much less her being one. When she is asked to mediate a dispute over the remains of a woman and baby, she begrudgingly goes but fully intends to quit and disappear as soon as it’s over. Things don’t go quite as planned, especially after she meets the reclusive and rather grumpy, Thane Ealdian. Even more shocking for Emerson is to discover that dragons do exist and then things get very interesting…very. Thane is ready to accept his dragon and travel to Havyn, the isle where old dragons go to fly free, flame, and fall to ash but when the remains of his wife and son are recovered he must first discover who killed them. To complicate matters, he is unusually drawn to the beautiful young woman who has been sent by the Bloodkin Triad to act as mediator. His dragon seems to desire her dragon and so perhaps, it’s not quite time to let his dragon fly free. Wow, and double wow! I loved everything about this book…the characters, the story line, the action – even when a bit gory – the premise of dragons living among us with their hoards and magic life-extending blood. Thane is grumpy, introverted, and possessive but actually a complete romantic. Emerson is everything strong and modern in a woman but her dragon knows what she wants, and I’m with her. Erin has conjured a modern world, which we all recognize but has layered within it, a mysterious and magical paranormal realm that fits like a glove. I can’t wait to read the next one, AWAKENED BY FIRE, which I’ve already bought. I want so much to read it next but it’s going to have to wait just a bit longer. In the meantime, I highly recommend TEMPTED BY FIRE, the first book in this extraordinary Dragons of Bloodfire series by Erin Kellison – even if you’re not a fan of paranormal, it’s everything exciting – castles and fast cars, and intrigue driven by amazing characters and buried secrets. ***purchased for my own personal reading but sharing my honest and unscripted review.

Imagine an incredible world with dragon and wolf shifters and with blood feuds spanning centuries. He was a match; she was flint. And between them both...fire. TEMPTED BY FIRE by Erin Kellison was an original, very enjoyable tale featuring dragon and wolf shifters. It combined a romance, an enduring mystery and a plethora of fast-paced action. The book is the first installment in the author's new Dragons of Bloodfire series. It was the story of mediator Emerson Clark and dragon-shifter Thane Ealdian. Imagine an incredible world with dragon and wolf shifters and with blood feuds spanning centuries. Add in slayers, romance and a plethora of danger and fast-paced action for a tale that will grab and hold your attention. I liked both Emerson and Thane. She was feisty and a bit naive, at first. She was supposed to be a mediator between two dragon families when she was really an unbeliever that shifters existed! She thought she would just play along with her client's fantasies, but, to her credit, she came up to speed quickly thanks to Thane, a sexy black dragon. Thane was solely driven by revenge until he met Emerson. I loved how she made Thane actually want to live again. He was such a hot hero. Their romance was sweet and intense. LOL! I loved the hoards... I thoroughly enjoyed this first installment in Erin's new paranormal romance series. Be prepared for a roller coaster ride featuring a solid storyline with a multitude of unexpected twists and dark turns with plenty of humorous moments. I first discovered Erin's writing with her addictive, highly original Reveler series and was thrilled to see that she was delving into the world of dragons. I love dragons! I would highly recommend it to anyone who revels in paranormal urban fantasies featuring shifters. I most definitely look forward to reading AWAKENED BY FIRE, the next book in Erin's Dragons of Bloodfire series! My full review is featured at Reading Between The Wines Book Club. Please check it out there. 4 Wine Glasses!

RATING 4.5 STARS Tempted by Fire is book one in the Dragons of Bloodfire series by Erin Kellison. I won this book in a give a way. This is my first book by Erin Kellison. I’ve been admiring it for some time now, I admit. I also admit that I do have a small ‘thing’ for dragon shifters so I couldn’t believe my good fortune when I won the book. So did it live up to my expectations? Read on and find out. Thane Ryce Ealdian is a Bloodkin, a name given to those with dragon blood. Over six hundred years ago Thane’s wife and child were murdered. The one responsible was never found. Now, after all this time, their remains have been found. And an object clutched in the hand of his wife’s skeleton implicates someone in the murder. But the person implicated is also claiming that the remains belong to his clan. So a mediator has been appointed to settle the dispute. Then, Thane will get his revenge. Emerson Clark was abandoned as a baby, never knowing her lineage. She grew up in the human system. It was suggested somewhere along the line that she was Bloodkin but she never had any real proof. And honestly, she doesn’t even know if she believes that dragon shifters actually exist. She knows that other shifters are real. Her own foster brother is a were shifter. But dragons? Really? When she applied for college financial aid, though, she checked the box next to Bloodkin with a question mark. All of a sudden, she had plenty of money for college and living expenses. After college, she was given the job of a mediator with a salary she couldn’t resist. But she didn’t like the feeling that the Bloodkin were controlling every aspect of her life. So after this job, she was out. Or so she thought, anyway. As soon as Emerson meets Thane, she feels something. An attraction to him on a level she never knew existed. It’s like something inside her was awakening. But she soon discovered that there was a lot more to this case than she thought. And now she is being warned off the case, in a very disturbing way. Thane soon realizes that she has been assigned to the case for a reason. And he is going to figure out what it is. Until he does, Emerson isn’t going anywhere. He is keeping her close, very close. As the danger Emerson and Thane are in increases, so does their attraction. Still, though, Thane wants revenge. As secrets are revealed, Thane might not like all the answers he discovers. This was a really good book with a whole new take on the dragon world. I enjoyed it so much and sped through it. Thane was perfect in his own dark, brooding way. I loved his man servant or whatever he was called, Matthew. And Emerson was so strong. With all she endured as a child, then to be thrust into this crazy world, she remained tough and loyal. Thane and Emerson were perfect together. So, as I said, this was my first book by this author. I will most definitely continue on with this series and very much look forward to checking out some of her other books as well. “He was a match; she was flint. And between them both…fire.”

The beginning of another great new series by Erin Kellison. Once again she has created her own twist, by making the central shifter characters dragons. Lots of thought has been put into the dragon shifter history and traditions, and the characters are diverse and interesting. The storyline could go anywhere from here. I'm looking forward to the next book. Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review.

Tempted By Fire - Dragons of Bloodfire 1 Great start to a new series by Erin Kellison. I am loving the Reveler series and a series about dragons....perfect! Erin Kellison manages to pack so much into a short story. Her world building ensures you are pulled into the story without struggling to find bits and pieces. Thane is a powerful Black dragon trying to fight off his final shift into dragon form forever. He is determined to avenge the deaths of his wife and infant son after discovery of their remains. Emerson Clark is hired to mediate between the two parties claiming the remains. Drawn into a world she doesn't believe exists, Emerson is in for a rough ride. Tempted By Fire is a fluid, well-written, stand-alone short story (part of the Dark and Damaged boxed set) with engaging characters, lots of descriptive action and, yes, hot sex. Can't wait to read the second in the series. Gifted a copy for independent review

I was gifted a copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review. This was a great story. By far, one of my favorites from this author. While this was a short story it actually to me, reads almost like a full novel. I can only hope that this one turns into a series. There is potential for a great series in my opinion. Will be recommending to others who like shifter romances.

Refreshing new dragon shifter perspective Having read other books by Erin Kellison, I can say that I was not expecting this book to be quite what it turned out to be. For a fact I've read lots of dragon books but this one is different, special. It's very graphic in the aspect of the dragons with their traditions from a new perspective then other books I've read. The story deals heavily with family loves, confusion, hurts and death. You can feel every emotion and it pulls you further into the story. Ryce Ealdian is a ancient dragon shifter with a very dark edge. I felt his character was very dark in the beginning and watching him change through meeting Emerson was written in a manner that made sense. Emerson is not what she appears to be either. This is where it gets really interesting. I liked her confusion and wanting to just get everything over with attitude. She wasn't soft or a push over. The author continually twists the story as we follow an amazing story of seeing dragons through a different new eye, a little bit rougher around the edges but deeper than we could possibly guess. She weaves a story with the back story so you know how they came to be today. It was interesting watching how two opposing families who have been fighting for 600 years come to terms and discover the truth of this long fight. I love how she shows the honor of these enemies, how they interact with each other and have the ability to show compassion even if they can not agree. One of my favorite parts of the book. "He turned his hand over, and in his palm was a smooth, gray stone. She looked at it for a long moment and then went very still. Her face flushed, and her eyes misted, seeming to glow. “From your first hoard?” she asked. So she remembered. “The first stone I collected.” Did she understand what he was trying to say?" I could feel his fear and love at the same time. I know you want to know what I am talking about but you will have to read the story to understand why it is so impactful. I give this 4 Stars. Oh my gosh, I absolutely loved this book. I was introduced to Erin Kellison through her Reveler series, but I loved this so much more. I loved Thane. I loved Ember. The couple worked well together and the conflict and plot kept me engaged throughout the story. Once I got to chapter 3 I could not put it down until it was finished. I loved the witty banter and one liners by all of the main characters. I wish I could bottle up all of the one-liners in my quotes section, but out of context they just won't be as cute and witty. I can't wait for the next one. This is a brief review, but if you like dragons, strong, witty characters and an entertaining plot, then this is the story for you. **Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review

Intrigue, Deception, Murder... Ooh I liked!!! What a great start to a series... I love dragons and I really enjoyed seeing how this story and its characters came to life! 600 year old bones discovered... turns out to be Thane Ealdian's wife and child, but others are claiming the bones for themselves. Who murdered them? In comes a mediator, Emerson Clark. She claims to be Bloodkin (dragon), but does not even believe in them. So much happens around and to Thane and Emersen... I loved learning about these dragons and the other characters. These two had me turning page after page! Loved the ending! Made me smile! This was another great read from Erin Kellison! I can not wait to see what is next in this series!

It's been a while since a story has been able to hold my attention and I'm grateful that this one did. A lot was packed into the 126 or so pages.

*Long sigh* I don’t know how she does it but every single time I open up a book, or in this case, start my e-reader, and start reading one of Erin Kellison’s stories, she takes me to a place of myth, magic, and fantasy of epic proportions. Granted, not everyone will agree with me but I love her storytelling, the way she weaves reality and fantasy to create worlds and characters that make you want to jump into the pages and be part of their universe. Powerful and ancient shifter dragon Thane Ealdian wants nothing more to avenge the murder of his wife and child before his last shift. He’s fighting with all his might the call of his nature to prevent the change because he knows if he changes before he finds the murderer, he will not be able to bring him or her to justice… or eat them to his heart’s content. To his annoyance, someone else may have a claim on what he says belongs to him and so enter Emerson Clark, a young shifter with secrets of her own and someone that has made Thane realize it may not be his last shift after all. We know this is a romance therefore it will have a HEA but the story was plenty engrossing and fascinating with all the suspense and twists thrown in. I also liked it that there are plenty of other paranormal creatures and the story doesn’t just focus on the romance but in the interaction of the characters and creatures in a human world. Like I said, plenty to like here. - I read this story as part of the Dark and Damaged: Eight Tortured Heroes of Paranormal Romance boxed set -

Don't be looking for sweet and innocent here lol. the book starts off strong and keeps going from there. The characters in this book are very strong and I like that I love how they are not easily marked as pushovers and think all should be easy .This book makes you sit on the edge of your see to see who is going to betray you next or who will Die ..... I really enjoyed reading it .. If you have a love of dragon shifters and want a great read well look no more and pick this book up today

Dragons of Bloodfire Book One Emerson Clark is set to mediate the discovery of a set of Dragonkin's bones, when she is met by a "messenger" who kills himself in front of her. She is thrust into the world of the Dragonkin, of which she is a reluctant member. Thane Ealdian is a fascination and horror for her from the start. As she gets deeper into this new world of Blood and death, can she ever escape them? If you're looking for a new series about dragons and shifters, this is the book for you!

This was part of the Dark and Damaged set when it first came out. I has just recently come out as a single now. All I have to say to that is if the other stories are as good as this one, the set is one great bargain! Since this was a pretty quick read, I wasn't expecting the romance to really capture me. It did! I really got a feel for Emerson and Thane. It is also set in an interesting world where shifters are known but dragon shifters are still considered myth. A archeological find changes that view and brings Thane out of hiding. The world is still a mystery since we don't know everything about it by the end of the book but we know there are vampires to go with the mythos. The romance was surprising. I didn't like Thane at first but he really grew on both me and Emerson. I liked the makeshift family both had so the secondary characters also shined here. The only frustrating part I had also was about the secondary characters. Not a bad frustration but I just wanted to know more about them. You know it is coming in the series but I wanna know now! :) There was also some frustration about not knowing more about this world as I stated above. However, as we follow these characters, I have no doubt more of the world will be revealed. I still think this was a great start to the series and I give this one 4 1/2 stars. It is a great dragon shifter book with great characters and more to come! I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

OMG amazing read *Copy was provided for honest review* I love all of Erin's work and I follow all of her series, this one for me will be the icing on the cake, I love her writing and I love shifter novels. This is a fast smooth read, and doesn't lack on the story line for one minute, I read this as a wind down before bed but found myself staying up into the very hours of the morning just to find out how it ends. There is no cliffhanger in the novel, but Erin winds you into a story of fantasy and desire that you crave more at the end. I love the information that got leaked into the novel, its hard to write the first book in the series and be able to give you that information bomb without it blowing up too much and leaving the reader going Wow that was just too much. Erin's characters once again aren't perfect this I love. Can't wait for book 2

Tempted By Fire is book one it the Dragons of Bloodfire series by Erin Kellison. It gives us the story of Dragon shifter Thane Ealdian and Emerson Clark. Thane has just awoken from a self imposed sleep brought on by the grief of murder of his wife and son. After waiting six hundred years to avenge the loss of his family, finally a clue has surfaced that implicates an old adversary. Emerson Clark is given the task by the Bloodkin of being a mediator for the two dragon families. Upon discovering that Emerson maybe the key to uncovering the truth he vows to do anything necessary to keep her at his side. I thoroughly enjoyed the Dragon world Ms. Kellison has built. It was unique, intriguing and well magical. The characters are strong, spunky, stubborn, hot and very well written. The book had mystery, humor, sexy male dragons, murder, revenge and so much more. It moved at a fast pace and really grabs your attention. I didn't want to put it down. I highly recommend this book. I loved it. I think you will also. “Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review” L.
