They're enemies.

Alena Brennan's relationship with Andre Makarov is... complicated. The casino magnate was a means to an end. Nothing more. At least that was what she tried to tell herself. Then she fell for him. Hard. But he kicked her out of his life when he discovered her lies.

Now she's pregnant with his baby.

Andre understands why Alena wanted revenge. His father took everything from her, leaving her an orphan at a young age. But Andre still had to cut her out of his life. Now that his father is dead, she's safe. He should just move on. But when he learns she's carrying his child, all pretense is gone--he'll protect Alena whether she likes it or not. She may kick up a fuss, but Andre knows the gorgeous model with a party-girl rep attracts attention...including the dangerous sort.

Author note: Alena and Andre were introduced in the book Retribution but this can be read as a stand-alone novella.

When I started Tempting Danger, I was trying to figure out if I had read the first book, which have. I had to read my review on the first book, then I started to remember. I felt so bad for Alena Brennan. Oh man she was left in a heartbreaking situation. By the time we start this story, she's about four months pregnant, and the father doesn't know. Yes, we have a secret baby situation. It's not like she plan to keep the baby secret, but things are extremely rocky with her and Andre Makarov. I mean she's cut out of his life. Yet, he can't seem to let go of her in a way. He finds out, and he's willing to trying to fix things with her. Again rocky relationship. Plus, it doesn't help that situations have popped up to cause them problems. Okay, I liked Tempting Danger. Basically, a second chance romance with secret baby, and a dash of danger. Plus, it was a fairly quick read, and I like that Alena and Andre get a second chance at love, and real start. So, if you are in a mood for second chance and secret baby with a dash of danger, this is your kind of read. Copy provided by author

Katie Reus - Tempting Danger - (Retribution Series - Book 2) WOW. The second novel in the Retribution series is as impactful and riveting as Book 1, Retribution. Alena Brennan and Andre Makarov were a big part of the plot in book 1 and after Alena tried to kill Andre’s gangster father and he found out he was used to get closer to his father, he kicked Alena and her sister, Nika, out of his life. Alena went back home to Biloxi. Nika, however, didn’t go with her, she stayed in Miami with the love of her life, Declan Gallagher. Four months later Alena is back in Miami to help Nika plan her wedding, and she is four months pregnant. Yes, it is Andre’s baby and no, he doesn’t know. Andre can’t seem to get Alena out of his mind. He should hate her but instead he has someone keep tabs on her. It’s to keep her safe. That is what he is telling himself. When he found out that Alena would be in Miami soon, he got on his plane and headed for Miami. When Andre walked into a room and heard Alena tell someone she was pregnant, he knew it was his and he went into alpha male, protection and neanderthal mode. Find out if there is a chance for Andre and Alena to get past their history and tell each other how they fell about each other? When Alena is being pursued by someone from her past, will she be saved or will her time with Andre be cut short?

I honestly would recommend you read Retribution first. I have enjoyed Katie's stories for awhile. Alena Brennan wanted revenge for her parents. She used Andre Makarov. But it back fires on her when she finds out she is having his baby. Andre Makarov found out Alena was carrying his child. He was out to protect her in any way that he could. I am a sucker for second chances. This story had that. I enjoyed reading it

Whew!! Tempting Danger is a fast read that doesn't let up. Andre and Alena have some serious history. She used him to get close to his father so that she could kill him. After her attempt was thwarted, Andre let her go. But he never forgot her. Months later, he finds out she's pregnant with his child and nothing will stop him from getting her back. I wasn't sure how this story would play out, but of course Katie Reus is a genius and the story flowed. You feel for both Andre and Alena and root for them pretty much from the beginning. There is a little bit of suspense from a stalker towards the end of the book, but that threat is minor and really is a blip in the story. The real story line is Alena's ability to trust again after everything that has happened to her and the extreme steps Andre takes to make her his. Review: If you are looking for a short read with enemies to lovers with a oops baby thrown in, then this is the book to pick up. There is lots packed into this short read. It is full of action, drama and sexy times. Alena and Andre, if you have read any of the series you will remember from the past book. They are very likable characters, with great moral compasses and strong. Of course they have obstacles to overcome, all stemming from the lies from the first time they were together. There is a little suspense and action too that makes the story more exciting, especially never the end of the book. Well, it is a short story so I am leaving the review off here without giving the whole story away. Ms. Reus is one of my go-to Authors and this story does not disappoint. 4.5Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the Author.*

I would read Retribution first. I really enjoyed this book and how Alena and Andre met. I did not realize that I had to read Retribution 1st. Now I have to do that after I buy it. Lol. I do like the way they push each other. It was funny, sad and in the long run, well you’ll have to read this.

We met Alina and Andre in the first book (Retribution) when she and her sister were trying to avenge their parent’s murder. This book was not as fast-paced as the first book nor did it have any paranormal elements but it was still an entertaining read. It was cute to see the things a hormonal pregnant woman has to go trough and how the people around her deal with the situations. The thing I didn’t like much was that I was expecting more of a struggle in the romantic department. It went from “enemies” to “I want you back in my life” in the span of a millisecond (not quite literally but it sure felt that way) which I feel didn’t allow me connect to the characters that much. ** A copy of this book was provided to me by the author. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion. **

Alena doesn't expect a second chance with Andre but she knows that she has to let him know about the baby she's carrying. Their first chance at a HEA was based on lies and Alena doesn't believe that Andre will forgive her for that even though her feelings for him are real. Andre knows he should get over Alena but he can't. After he finds out she's carrying his child, he won't. I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

Stunning Followup in #Retribution series----Tempting Danger is a sister story to the book Retribution. Retribution focuses mostly on Nika and Declan, Tempting Danger focuses on Nika’s older sister Alena. I was super excited because I wanted to know more about Alena and her lover Andre. I was dying to know more about their love story. These two played a huge role in Retribution and I was wondering how things ended up between them, well this book tells us. Alena essentially faked interest in Andre in order to get close to his father who murdered her and Nika’s parents many years before. Only thing is Alena didn’t realize she would fall head over heels in love with her target, Andre. When Andre found out that the love he thought Alena had for him was supposedly fake, he blew up and sent her on her way. Alena came to realize Andre is nothing like his father and now its too late to fix her mistake …. she did love him but when she went, she went hiding a secret. A few months on from the failed murder attempt, Alena is retreating from public life and moving closer to her sister for time being. She hasn’t seen Andre since everything came out and he came to learn the truth. She has this huge secret she hasn’t told him but she isn’t sure if she is ready to let him know because she is afraid he will run roughshod over her and quite possibly fight her for this “secret” she has. She just hopes he will forgive her and work with her ….only thing is, Andre is on the hunt to find her… will these two be able to work things out or will the past mistakes shape the future or can they learn and make a brand new future-together? I loved how Katie Resus wrote this awesome novella and packed everything in with such a punch. I felt every emotion, every action, every passion by the main characters without feeling like something was missing. This was a fantastic followup and I enjoyed getting to see Nika and Declan in this book as well. I highly recommend this book and I cant wait to read what comes next by this author. My Rating: 4.7 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."

Tempting Danger by Katie Reus This is the story of Alena Brennan and Andre Makarov. We 1st met them in the book Retribution. You don't have to have read it before this one though. Alena used Andre to get in position to take revenge on his father for the murder of her parents. Andre broke off with her even though he loved her after finding out she used him. Alena fell in love with him at the start. When they are in the same vicinity again Andre finds out that Alena is pregnant. This is a very enjoyable story. I always enjoy a book by Katie Reus. I highly recommend this one. I received an ARC for my honest review.

quick read: revealing and entertaining TEMPTING DANGER is the second novella in Katie Reus’ contemporary adult RETRIBUTION romantic, suspense series. This is American model Alena Brennan, and casino magnate Andre Makarov’s story line. TEMPTING DANGER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Alena and Andre’s story line began in book one-RETRIBUTION. SOME BACKGROUND: Years earlier Alena and Nika’s parents were murdered by four men from Russia, and in the ensuing time our heroine made it her sole purpose to kill the people responsible including the father of the man with whom she would fall in love. Told from dual third person perspectives (Alena and Andre) TEMPTING DANGER picks up several months following the events of book one –RETRIBUTION-in which Andre Makarov discovered that everything about the woman with whom he fell in love was a lie. Hoping to end Yasha Mkarov’s life, Alena devised a plan to seduce our story line hero in order to get close to the man who ended her mother’s life. Fast forward four months wherein our heroine, who has been laying low, heads to Florida to visit her sister, only to come face to face with the man that she still loves. Enter Andre Makarov, the man who stole Alena’s heart, but the man Alena destroyed in the process. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Alena and Andre as they work together to forge a deeper bond with the impending birth of their unborn child, and the potential fall out when someone from Alena’s past seeks retribution for a perceive sin. TEMPTING DANGER is a quick read; a second chance romance; a rekindling trope that focuses on forgiveness and understanding; retribution and revenge; falling in love and happily ever after. Nika Brennan and Declan Gallagher (Retribution #1) play secondary and supporting roles as the author revisits some of the events of book one, that will outline the reasons for the breakdown in Andre and Alena’s original relationship. The premise is revealing and entertaining; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is sensual and seductive. There is a minimal amount of story line conflict between our leading couple; Andre easily and readily accepts Alena back into his life, and Alena is willing to acknowledge the potential damage she caused in her need to seek revenge for the death of her beloved parents. Katie Reus continues to pull the reader into story lines that will leave you breathless and wanting more.

Alena used Andre to get close enough to his father in an attempt to kill him. Revenge was all she had planned. Unfortunately, along the way she had fallen for the son of her enemy but now he has shut her out of his life. Circumstances dictate that she contact him again, but she’s wary and holds off until the night he overhears her talking to someone. Andre hates that he tossed Alena aside after her attempt to end his father. How was he to know if what they had shared was real and if the woman she presented to him was the real her or a fraud? Now that she’s back in his life he’s going to do anything and everything to tie her to him. This is a fast paced read with well-rounded characters and great chemistry between the hero and heroine. I loved that Andre went after her with everything in his arsenal, all while utilizing what he knew about her. The epilogue was perfect and this author once again proves she knows how to do heroes right. This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by the author. Dual POV Safe – no ow drama, no cheating No apparent triggers

This is book 2 in the Retribution series and it is a novella. I highly recommend that you read book 1 so you understand exactly why the characters are in the situation and circumstances that they are in. You can understand it without reading book 1 but it would definitely make more sense after reading that book. This novella is about Alena Brennan and Andre Makarov. We saw both of these characters in the first book and this novella is set up to explain what happens to them after that book ended. Alena is now pregnant and figuring out exactly what she wants to happen in her life. She hadn't had a chance to tell Alex she was pregnant when he finds out on his own. From then on he decides he will do whatever he has to to make her safe and be able to be in his child's life. I really enjoyed this book. I was left wondering at the end of book 1 exactly what happened with this couple and I am so glad this author wrote this for us and explains exactly how things played out after all the other drama! Alena and Alex are great together, especially once they quit letting themselves get in their own way of happiness. I also liked seeing snippets of Nika's happiness! Great read!

Revenge is a powerful force. Alena Brennan knows first hand how it takes over your life. It cost her the love of Andre Makarov because of it. What is she going to do now that she's pregnant with his baby? Alena is a powerful heroine. She's determined to kill Andre's father. He was responsible for the murder of her parents. I wanted these two to become a family. I felt the love and passion between these two. I didn't want the evil of Andre's father to keep them apart. I couldn't stop reading Tempting Danger. I loved the setting and enjoyed catching up with Declan and Nika. I enjoy reading books by Katie Reus. Her stories are both romantic and suspenseful.

This short story is the HEA for Alena Brennan and Andre Makarov we've all been waiting for. I was so hoping they would get their story. Katie brought it to us with her twisty imagination. Alena has a big problem. She's a supermodel who is pregnant with Andre Makarov's baby no less. She used Andre to get to Andre's dad, Yasha, her parent's killer. She went and fell in love with Andre. Then ran when Yasha came to justice because she couldn't live with the guilt and pain of using Andre. Now she has to face him with the baby. Yasha has been keeping tabs on Alena because even hurt by her betrayal of him, he also fell in love with her. When Alena comes back to her sister, Nika in her time of need and Andre tracks her down. He finds out the wrong way she's pregnant and so the story builds. I am not a big fan of accidental baby or of a certain plot device that's later used in this story but I am ever so glad they find their happily ever after. It's a believable story and Katie writes it well. I adore the tight, loving relationship between the two sisters. I liked the bro-mance between Andre and Declan. I believed the over emotional Alena with her pregnancy hormones. I found it hard to like Alena much in Retribution and this story helped get me over that. Truth be told I did not identify much with Alena. I still like Nika better between the two. Sorry Katie. I really can't wait for more of Declan's family and their paranormal talents, especially since they all are CIA. I received this NetGalley ARC for a truthful review.

Katie Reus is my “go to” author when I want a good guy hero who only has eyes for his leading lady love and will fight anyone who gets in his way to keep her. At only 151 pages, Tempting Danger was no exception. Sure, it reads like a short, flirty, smexy Harlenquinish type novella, but all the better to read it my dears. I’m personally quite fond of that publisher. As a lover of romantic angst, I also get a kick out of alpha protective daddy drama, which is the underlying theme here. Due to time constraints in getting a review posted by release date, I will be reading this series out of order. Yeah, I can see how it would be helpful to have read Alena’s sister’s longer version HEA first in Retribution, but Ms. Reus filled in enough blanks I wasn’t overly lost. It gave away a few spoilers from book 1, but I’d still recommend it to anyone looking to find love between two temporarily torn apart lovebirds who flock back together when a baby bond once more binds them together. Here’s to hoping you’ll feel the same and enjoy this one as much as I did. Title: Tempting Danger, Series: Retribution (Book 2), Author: Katie Reus, Pages: 151, short novella, second chance, adversaries to lovers, a few smexy scenes, alpha protective daddy to be, brief peril/violence, romance safe, celibate during separation. Book 1 - Retribution, Pages: 350 (Nika & Declan) Book 2 - Tempting Danger, Pages: 151 (Alena & Andre) (I received a free advanced reader copy provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. No type of compensation was given to this reviewer. There is no relationship or affiliation between the reviewer and the author/publisher.)

Unexpected consequences after uncovered deception… This is the second book, a novella, in the Retribution series, the characters were introduced previously and this is a continuation after what occurred before. To avenge the deaths of her parents, the aftermath of which she had witnessed, Alena Brennan became involved with the son of the man who killed them to get close enough to extract her own form of justice. But not all men are the same, the son was a good man and their unexpected chemistry was real, though with deep regrets she continued to use him. When her lies were exposed she was banished from his life, neither knowing at the time that there would be long lasting consequences from their involvement that would forever bind them. Four months later there is a truth she needs to share with the man she cares for that she’d knowingly hurt and rightfully lost. He’d thought he’d found the woman for him until she cruelly betrayed him and Andre Markov did what any rational man would do under the circumstances, he kicked her out of his life. That didn’t mean that he hadn’t missed her or that after the dust finally settled he didn’t understand her actions knowing the type of man his father was for he very much does. Learning she’s carrying his child changes everything. There are regrets and mistrust on both sides. Can they wipe the slate clean and start anew? I really liked these secondary characters in Retribution and was hoping for more for them, I was pleased to see they were given a novella. This story though did not have the passion of the romance in the first book and there was too much civility in behavior and dialogue between these protagonists. This reader really wanted them to scream at each other, to let out their pent-up buried feelings, for him the rage at being used, for her the regret at having to use him but the pregnancy got in the way. Alena was more vulnerable and fragile here and this reader missed the fire I previously sensed she had within. The suspense in this one was minimal, a situation that was rectified quickly and not drawn out. An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author.

Alena used Andre to get to his father for revenge against the murder of her parents. When Andre found out, he cast her out but has not been able to get over her. When he finds out she is pregnant with his child, he's determined to make her his despite her betrayal. Alena never thought she would fall for the son of a monster. She hates that she used Andre to get to the last man alive that killed her parents, but she can't see past her revenge. When Andre kicked her out of his life, she knows she deserves his mistrust. When she learns she is pregnant with his baby, she hopes he is willing to forgive her enough to co-parent their baby. Katie Reus's books are pure perfection. She has the perfect formula for the Alpha hero, spitfire heroines and mature storylines. I'm not a big fan of betrayal stories but the author did such a good job of creating a story where you just can't be mad at either character for what happened. In fact, I wanted them together more because of it. I loved it!

Interesting read with a hint of suspense. The characters are strong, determined individuals that have trust issues. The story line moves quickly as love re-surfaces. Great read! I voluntarily read and reviewed this book; all opinions expressed are my own.

Whether you are new to Ms Reus’s stories or a long time fan , you will enjoy this one. It’s book 2 of the author’s Retribution series, and definitely a stand alone. I didn’t read book one, but had no problems following the plot. Ms Reus gives us enough information about what happened in the previous book, that you get a good view of the incidents that lead to this one. The story centers around Andre Makarov and Alena Brennan. They became lovers while she was seeking revenge for her parents murders. They parted in bad terms and even now, months afterwards, neither has forgotten the other. When Alena realizes she is pregnant , and knows she needs to tell Andre. But Andre finds out by accident. Now that he has found her again, he is determined to keep her safe, and marry her. Alena is not sure he loves her and that he will forgive her for what she did. Throw in a stalker wanting her dead, and you know you are in for a good ride. Novellas aren’t easy to write, and only a talented author can give you a well developed plot, complex characters, suspense, and a sweet and at the same time sexy romance. Somehow, Ms Reus accomplishes all of this without a hitch. I was gifted a copy of this book . The opinions expressed are solely my own.

4 - "I can't say no to you." Stars! Alena and Andre finally get their story told in Tempting Danger I am glad that Katie gave this couple their own happy ending after playing such a pivotal part in Declan and Nika’s book Retribution. No one manages to cram so much story into novella length books as Katie does, they never feel rushed and the couples always seem to have enough time spent on them that the depth and development of everything balances out perfectly with the drama and sexy-times. He still wanted her more than his next breath… This is a couple with history, not a great one, because Alena essentially faked interest in Andre in order to get close to his father, the man who brutally murdered her parents, years previously. What she didn’t anticipate was discovering that Andre is nothing like his father, and that she would fall deeply in love with him. He’d ruined her for anyone else. Which seemed a fitting punishment for her sins. A few months on from the failed murder attempt, Alena has not seen Andre since the truth emerged, but she hasn’t walked away completely unscathed, when she discovers she is pregnant with his child. "I didn’t realize you were so traditional." It doesn’t take long for Andre to find out, once Alena returns to Miami to help her sister plan her wedding, he basically turns back into the uber protective, alpha male she originally fell for. As you would expect, there is a little suspense thrown in, nothing to taxing or strenuous to the story itself, but it bought about the climax of this novella nicely and tied off a few loose ends. I read this in one sitting, and as always it was an enjoyable and engaging reading experience.
