Chapter One
One summer, My family and I went to Amelia Island, Florida for our vacation. On the way to our beach house, we stopped by a beach store to look at the water toys.
I went into the store with my family and the very first thing I saw was the Hermit Crabs - I wanted to get one as a pet so bad! When I looked into the aquarium, I saw the Hermit Crab that was perfect for me and decided to name him Santa Claws.
I couldn't wait to take Santa Claws into the beach house. He was going to live with us now. I set up his house with toys, food, water, and a bed so he would be happy as could be.
While I was sleeping though, Santa found a way to get out of his cage. I guess he was not happy with his new home, or maybe he was just trying to find me.
We looked for him all day, but we couldn't find him anywhere. That night I prayed that he was going to be ok. Right before I went to sleep though, Dad yelled out "I found Santa Claws"! Dad had been watching TV and saw Santa crawling across the floor behind him.
My Mom and I came running into the den, and Mom picked up Santa to put him back in his house. He must have been mad or did not like his house because he pinched mom on her finger!
