The Affliction
The Conquest book series takes place on the continent of Amingea, a land of strife and magic. It is a world where large armies collide, powerful magi conjure great spells, and sinister forces seek to subdue the people. Though the risk and challenge are great, heroes rise, leaving hope and change in their wake. Even as these heroes defy the darkness, it surges against them, and their clashes echo across the lands. This is an excerpt from the tale of one such figure, Torian Danacae:
"I was never warned about those woods, about the terrible beasts which hunt among the trees. They stalked, mangled and infected me. I can brew potions strong enough to turn flesh invisible, alter man to beast, or invoke emotion. But this poison resists all treatment. My one salvation lies to the north. A rare plant there is rumored to hold the power to cleanse this affliction. The journey will be long and unfamiliar, and many perils will rise to challenge my wit and resolve. I must succeed before the infection can spread. The journey will be long and perilous, and I must attempt it with a wound that will not heal, and succeed before this infection spreads too far. My hopes yet ride high, though my path is unfamiliar."
