About the Author

Ryan F. Schmit was born in Walton, New York and raised in Gouverneur, New York. He developed his love of the outdoors while grow¬ing up and exploring the beautiful Adirondacks. He attended SUNY Morrisville, where he earned AAS in Engineering Science. He attended Clarkson University, earning a BS in Aeronautical Engineering, and continued on to earn his MS and PhD. in Mechanical Engineering. For the past seven years he has worked in the Air Vehicle Directorate within the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. He is married to his loving wife of five years, Amy, and they have two sons together. Evan was born 15 weeks prematurely and passed away after two days of life. Aiden was recently adopted.
