About the Author

Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874-1942) was a Canadian author and poet best known for her novel "Anne of Green Gables." Born in Prince Edward Island, Montgomery grew up in a farming community and was raised by her grandparents. She began writing at a young age and published her first poem at the age of 16. After completing her education, Montgomery worked as a teacher and later as a journalist. In 1908, she published "Anne of Green Gables," which was an instant success and has since become a classic of children's literature. Over the course of her career, Montgomery wrote 20 novels, as well as several collections of short stories and poems. Her works often feature strong and independent female characters and are set in the rural communities of Prince Edward Island. Montgomery's writing continues to be widely read and loved, and she is considered one of Canada's greatest authors.
