The Blue Sword: A Gift from a Wizard

Overview

A ten year old boy, named Perser, is gifted a sword by his grandffather. The boy goes off to Atlantis to train for their 'Games' (developed for the same reason as the Olympic Games in Greece). His grandfather subsequently dies. At fifteen Perser wins the Junior Games then decides to leave with a new found friend, the elf Ben Taran. Perser is adopted into Ben Taran's family. As an adult Perser travels, his huge broadswrd with him always. He is attacked by Orc assassins. A dying Orc says the reason is "the one who has the sword." Perser finds out the sword is magical and the magic had not ended with the Inundation 100 years earlier. Goblins and Orcs will again attempt to kill him. Perser agrees to accompany Ben Taran who's escorting a Sibyl to a conclave at the far end of the continent. It may give him time to gain knowledge about the magical sword and about magic. He must also learn what his grandfather, formerly a famous wizard, wanted him to do with the sword. He must also stay alive.

About the Author

Born in Rhode Island and kept moving west until I reached Hawaii. If I went any further west it'd be east so I returned to California. I'm a pysch nurse for my day job. Started writing poetry in high school (went to three) and learned about school newspapers. Was usually involved or a contribtor with college newspapers. Had a Hemenway (not Ernest) Scholarship from U of Hawaii. I'm also a bookseller and have been since 1998. I started selling books in the largest co-op in the country (Tall Stories) and now am only on line with ABE. History was my major with creative writing as a minor and was told at my first university (a phys. ed. school) where I was to play baseball that I was the only history major there. I've traveled quite alot; here, Central and South America and Asia and learned to scuba dive (PADY) in Belize - Cay Caukler. I've hopped freights and gone 1st class on airplanes. I've seen all but one Super Bowl. Jeopardy is my favorite show though Monk and The Antiques Roadshow are close.
