About the Author

Marco Polo was born and died in medieval Venice. Born in a traders’ family, he was committed to the business of procuring precious objects from the East. After a 24 year trip through the Far East, he describes his adventures to Rusticien of Pisa, an imprisoned writer in Genoa, in 1299.
