The Boyfriend Whisperer by Linda Budzinski is a fun, young adult clean read! Lexi has made a small business of helping young women gain the attention of guys they are interested in. She calls herself The Boyfriend Whisperer and no one knows it's Lexi, except her assistant Abi. All seems fine until Lindsay hires the boyfriend whisperer to help her get Chris, Lexi's best friend and long time crush. Lexi questions her matchmaking business, her friendships, her future as a basketball player and even her relationship with Chris. It becomes a roller coaster ride of teen angst and young love. This realistic fiction and romance story is cute and charming with a wide range of characters that keep Lexi on her toes; 5 stars for this enjoyable read!

Reviewed by Paul F. Murray for Readers' Favorite The Boyfriend Whisperer by Linda Budzinski is a delightful new take on the teen romance novel. Instead of simple boy-meets-girl, we have a situation where high school basketball star Lexi Malloy is secretly helping every girl out there, except herself, to find the boyfriend of her dreams. Lexi, the Boyfriend Whisperer, provides advice to other girls on how to appeal to the boy of her dreams through identifying with his interests in movies, music, or sports. The scheme works well until one of the high school cheerleaders, Lindsay, requests that the Boyfriend Whisperer fix her up with the one boy, Chris, a fellow high school basketball standout, that Lexi wants for herself. Reluctantly, after Lindsay pays Lexi’s assistant and best friend, Abi, $125 for the Boyfriend Whisperer’s services, Lexi goes ahead and sets Lindsay up with Chris. How will all of this play out? Will Lexi somehow move cheerleader Lindsay out of the way and get Chris in the end, or will handsome Jerod take Chris’s place in Lexi’s life? What will happen if Lexi’s classmates — not all of whom have had good experiences with the Boyfriend Whisperer — find out that Lexi is the BW? Will Lexi be able to keep her secret? Meanwhile, Lexi tries to sort out her own life — does she want to keep playing basketball in college, or go a different route in life? I thoroughly enjoyed The Boyfriend Whisperer by Linda Budzinski. It is extremely well-written, and there is a creative breath of fresh air take on the usual teen romance plot, with a great deal of suspense, not only revolving around Lexi-Lindsay-Chris-Jerod, but also around Lexi’s ability, or not, to help other girls in her high school get their desired boyfriends. Readers of teen romance novels will have trouble putting this book down.
