Overview

"I found a button and its charm was such, I sewed a dress" a proverb says. This proverb applied to literature explains the creation of a novel. This perhaps is the usual way. Just as there is no straight line or perfect circle in nature there also does not exist in the society a self-existent and independent novel. Even if it seems ready-to-read, it is always an arbitrary judgement of the writer. Even a narrator of personal experience not only makes modifications but also -even deeper- ignores the countless streams that shaped the particular watercourse.

Ο Σωτήρης Δημητρίου γεννήθηκε στην Πόβλα Θεσπρωτίας. Ζει και εργάζεται στην Αθήνα. Το έργο του έχει τιμηθεί με το βραβείο διηγήματος της εφημερίδος "Τα Νέα" (1987), δύο φορές με το βραβείο διηγήματος του περιοδικού "Διαβάζω" (η τελευταία το 2002 για το βιβλίο του "Η βραδυπορία του καλού"), μία φορά με το βραβείο του Ιδρύματος Ουράνη της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών (2013), ενώ το μυθιστόρημά του "Ν ακούω καλά τ όνομά σου" ήταν υποψήφιο για το Ευρωπαϊκό Αριστείο Λογοτεχνίας. Κείμενά του έχουν μεταφερθεί πολλές φορές στον κινηματογράφο, σε ταινίες μικρού και μεγάλου μήκους ("Αμέρικα" του Σάββα Καρύδα, "Απ το χιόνι" του Σωτήρη Γκορίτσα, "Τα οπωροφόρα της Αθήνας" του Νίκου Παναγιωτόπουλου, κ.ά.)
