The Chief is Missing
The sergeant is awakened from his deep and badly needed sleep by a heavy pounding on his door. When he drags himself from his bed and opens the door one of his officers comes bursting in and says, "The chief is missing," as he heads into the kitchen to start coffee for his sergeant. As he begins his investigation it becomes apparent that the chief may have been murdered.

While the investigation progresses it becomes apparent that the chief was murdered. What's more, the chief had been abusing his authority and hurting the towns people in ways that the sergeant and his fellow officers could never have imagined.

Now it's up to the sergeant to keep the department together, solve the murder, help the town heal and move on all the while handling the other distractions that pop up, no sleep and coffee. Lots of coffee

About the Author

J A Sliger was the oldest of five siblings and as such he was the designated story reader at bedtime. Since his brothers and sisters wanted him to read the same books over and over he began to try to do different voices and sounds as he read. When he got the chance he would embellish the reading with side stories. Mark Twain once said, “Nothing spoils a good story like the arrival of an eye witness.” That’s not a problem for J A Sliger. There is enough personal experience woven in to make the story believable. The characters are drawn from people to the point you can relate and maybe even recognize them. We really hope you enjoy this. PS It might help you dive into the story if you drink a lot of coffee while you read it.
