Overview

Carl Weber takes readers back to church in his latest drama-filled novel, the much-anticipated sequel to the New York Times bestseller, The Choir Director.

It's been three years since Aaron Mackie succeeded in helping his friend and mentor, Bishop T.K. Wilson, dig his ministry out of financial ruin. Aaron is also responsible for re-energizing the almost defunct choir into something special. His success has drawn national attention, and he's on the verge of signing a huge recording contract. With his life in order, Aaron decides the time is right to propose to Tia Gregory, the church secretary who caught his eye and inspired him to shed his Tiger Woods-like tendencies to become a one-woman man. The stage is set for what might be the wedding of the year, but quickly becomes the disaster of the year when Aaron is left at the altar without explanation.

Now, during his own hour of need, Aaron turns to the bishop for help. Unfortunately, the line he asks T. K. to cross will force the bishop to choose between faith and friendship, or as he puts it, "between heaven and hell." As the investigation into Tia's disappearance continues, the two men are challenged in ways they never imagined.

I've read all of his books, he's my favorite author. With that being said this book wasn't a real page turn for me. I forced myself to read it, for me to ask myself the main character (Tia) did all of that for what. This was by far the worst book I've read by him. He never addressed Ross issues, or explain what actually did Tia when she encountered the men. Her relationship with Aaron seemed so strong I don't understand why she felt like she couldn't tell him. Nor did he talk about TK and Monique's relationship. He normally leaves us with and ending where he closes his endings and leave his readers wanting more. I honestly don't want more.

This twists and turns kept me interested to a point. The tie in with Desiree and Aaron works but it takes too long to figure out why she has it in for him. I was disappointed with then end - it was unrealistic. I enjoy Carl Weber's books for the most part. The sex gets a little too much in the Family Business - Part 2 book. The relationship between the bishop and his wife makes for interesting church drama. On the whole, it was 'ok'.

Devotion 143 does not post reviews....she posts what she believes will be. Even for authors she has never reads. Stay off the boards if you have never read the book! This book was a five star read. If you like CW writing style in Man in 3B you will love this! The ending is not what/who you you expect. Cop this. CW will always be in my Nook!
