About the Author

I have lived an interesting and adrenaline filled life.My first thirteen years of professional life were served as a Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (S.E.R.E.) Specialist. I served at the primary SERE School in Reno,NV and Spokane,WA. I also commanded my own schools in Germany, Thailand and New Jersey. While in Reno, I was honored to be selected to provide training to the Mercury and Gemini Astronauts. At Fairchild AFB, I taught the initial Apollo Astronauts. In Reno, I also worked part time and became the # 2 elephant trainer at John Ascuaga's Nugget.
Realizing that I was getting long in the tooth to jump out of airplanes and hump a fifty pound pack over mountains, I became a Special Agent in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. I served as Team leader for the Narcotics Interdiction Team at Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam. Upon completion of my tour there, I transferred to Germany as Commander of the Narcotic Team for Western Germany,Holland, Austria,Luxembourg and West Berlin. I returned to California and retired on March 31,1976. On April 1, I began my civilian law enforcement career as a Narcotics Inspector for the Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement. In 84 I returned to my SERE roots to serve in Saudi Arabia to train Saudi and Jordanian Air Force members in Desert and Sea Survival. In 85 I returned to the U.S. and civilian law enforcement. I served with the Vacaville and Oakland Police Departments. In 99 I was selected to assist in the opening of the new "Democratic Police Academy" in Kosovo. I retuned to Kosovo in 2000 to serve as Investigations Commander in Rahovec, Kosovo. Returning to Idaho, I joined the Fort Sherman Academy as a consultant and instructor. Fort Sherman Academy teaches "Personal Safety" to persons who are at 'risk' traveling or living abroad. In 04, I was selected to become part of the instructional staff at the Amman, Jordan International Police Training Course. Our mission for the U.S. Department of State was to train Iraqi Police Officers in the fundamentals of 'Democratic Law Enforcement.'
I am now home in Idaho and again a member of the Fort Sherman Academy staff where I teach on a part-time basis.
