About the Author

Richard Helms retired from a twenty-two year career as a forensic psychologist in 2002, to join the faculty of a small community college near his home. Three of his novels have been nominated for the Private Eye Writers of America Shamus Award, and he is the only author ever to win the Short Mystery Fiction Society Derringer Award in two different categories in the same year.
Besides writing, Helms enjoys gourmet cooking, amateur astronomy, woodworking, and rooting for the Carolina Panthers and Tarheels.
Richard Helms lives in North Carolina with his lovely spouse Elaine, their two children Alex and Rachel, and an ever-changing number of cats.
