About the Author

I was indoctrinated into my Scottish heritage at birth when my parents chose my oddly spelled first name from a plethora of Scottish family names. At ten, my grandparents took me to my first American Clan Gregor Society gathering, where I attended my first ceilidh (kay-lee), a Scottish party, and danced to the bagpipes with the hereditary chieftain of the clan. At eleven, my mother took me to Scotland for the first time and it has lived vividly in my imagination ever since.

I hope you'll join me in my forays into Scotland's wonderful medieval Highlands. In addition to The Devil of Kilmartin, my National Readers' Choice Award winning debut novel, please look for my Legacy of MacLeod series - Charming the Shrew and Daring the Highlander - out now. My newest trilogy starts in 2013 with the release of Highlander Betrayed on August 6th, followed by Highlander Avenged and Highlander Redeemed.

I'm a recent empty-nester and now share my home in southeastern Virginia with my husband (who refuses, under any circumstances, to ever wear a kilt), and our Eskie, Anna.

WHAT AN AMAZING JOURNEY!! I can't get enough of Laurin Wittig writings. Her stories are full of passion, love, intrigue and suspense. I loved the character's of the Devil and Elena and of course little Fia. I would suggest you purchase the Winter Stone that is written by 3 fantastic writer's including Laurin Wittig, which is book 2 called McCalister's Hope. It is the story of Fia as an adult and Kieron. There is lovemaking, that is full of passion and love, not vulgar, but just enough description that leaves you full of the passion they feel. I will not go into the story, as other's have, but this is an amazing story, and I highly recommend reading this and then the Winter Stone. (ljb)

Though sometime our heroine seemed a bit of a dim light bulb. And I have to wonder how a man would not recognize someone he knew well and hadn't seen in ten years. Poor eyesight? I won't say anymore I don't want to put spoilers in. It had it's moments. But I would not have paid more then $2.99 for it. Too many inconsistencies.

What a great romance! This is the first book that I have read by this author. I would recommend it as a very good story. It was not only a romance but a mystery as well. Someone is poisoning the Chief but his clan thought him mad. They called him Devil because of the episodes of madness that seemed to overtake him. Until he meets Elena, a healer from a rival clan, he has no idea that he was being poisoned. From there the story takes several twists and turns that are so riveting it's impossible to put the book down. Don't start this one late at night or you will be up all night! A great read - can't wait to read others by this author.

Superb Storytelling Wittig is a superb storyteller and THE DEVIL OF KILMARTIN is one of her most intriguing tales. Her historical romances are anchored by an accurate and insightful recreation of the past. The heroine of this engaging story is Elena, the chief’s daughter, a healer in the Highlands of medieval Scotland. She can succeed her father as chief of the clan only until she marries and the truculent Dougal wants to make sure she marries him. Elena is determined not to marry and in escaping from the persistent Dougal meets the mad Symon MaLachlan, known as the Devil of Kilmartin. The tormented Symon challenges Elena’s healing powers and her determination not to marry. A must read for people who love history, romance, and medieval Scotland.
