About the Author

Gretchen Scalpi, RD, CDN, CDE is a registered dietician and Certified Diabetes Educator with more than twenty-five years of experience as a nutrition counselor. She served as a contributing reviewer for the 6th edition of Contemporary Nutrition, and is the author of The Everything Diabetes Cookbook, 2nd Edition. Scalpi is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American Association of Diabetes Educators. She lives in Beacon, NY.

Robert Vigersky, MD served as the medical director of the Diabetes Treatment Center at Georgetown University Hospital and the Washington Hospital Center. He established the Diabetes Institute of the Walter Reed Health Care System, which is the premier diabetes program in the military. He is currently the president of The Endocrine Society.
