The GUIDE - Encounters With A Native Spirit
From Maine to Hawaii, Florida to Alaska; from 1642 to 1959….. the ordinary lives of thirty men and woman were changed by an extraordinary encounter with a Native spirit. Their stories provide a unique view of North America and a history of the nation built upon this land.

A Manhattan doctor is caught in a race for wealth, salvation and his children’s lives. The fate of a Civil War reporter changes after he meets a time traveler on the road to battle. A pilot who crashes in the Everglades is horrified to find that he is not quite alone. A treasure hunter makes a magnificent find and must suffer the deadly consequences of a curse. George Washington’s spy, a quiet colonial dame, is suddenly engaged in her own private war. A refugee freed from Chinatown’s slave brothels takes revenge beyond all limits. A minister is introduced to horror when his soul is tested by a former slave. A young man arrives in a bizarre town on the road to Hollywood for a screen test. A reformer who takes refuge in a utopia finds that his existence becomes pure hell….

About the Author

Kathleen Lonetto has loved writing throughout her life. Her interest is history and fiction. Of course, traveling to sites, reading and researching history is a passion. She began as a staff reporter and provided years of local coverage for a weekly town newspaper. Later, she became a feature writer for a Community Newspaper chain. As a freelance writer her articles were published in numerous national & regional periodicals.

Writing accurate history articles meant doing a lot of research. She found her way around libraries, archives and museums and enjoyed interviews with historians and curators. She also worked as a Public Relations Consultant for historical networks and museums.

Her interest in history led her to become the founder and publisher of the Long Island Chronicle, a regional history periodical funded by grants and advertising. Here, her labor of love kept her busy handling all aspects of publishing. Compared with this work, she finds that maintaining a website is much more pleasant.

In spite of success in presenting history to the public, her love has always been in writing fiction. Much time was spent in writing and researching DUTCHMEN - A Tale of New Netherland, The GUIDE Encounters with a Native Spirit, and VISITATIONS.

Years ago, while serving as Director of local Writer's Guild, she tapped into the small press movement and a limited edition of DUTCHMEN was published. To her delight, the book received excellent reviews from the press and much acclaim from readers. Copies are now sold out. But thanks to advances in epublishing and POD, all of these works are available for a new as well as a faithful number of readers. Her readings for special events from Manhattan to Alaska have provided overwhelming praise for these works.

After living in New York for decades, she relocated to Washington DC and finally, to Williamsburg VA. However, for all American History buffs, she has selected a few articles for your enjoyment. These were published in Long Island history publications several years ago. But since history remains the same, they are still relevant enough to be of interest. If you have time, take a few minutes to visit the REPRINTS page and read them. Along with reprints, her YoreAmerica.com website contains a wide array of multimedia entertainment that combines accurate historical fact with imaginative fiction.
