About the Author

London-born Talbot Mundy (1879-1940) (born William Lancaster Gribbon) ran away from home at age 16, beginning an odyssey across India, Africa, the Far East, and the Middle East. By age 29, he had adopted the name Talbot Mundy, and began his writing career in 1911. Mundy's work was generally set in India or the Middle East during the British Raj, and his writing influenced a number of other pulp adventure writers including Robert E. Howard (creator of Conan), Robert A. Heinlein, E. Hoffmann Price, Fritz Leiber, and Andre Norton.
