About the Author

Vanessa A. Ryan is an actress in Southern California. She was born in California and graduated from UCLA. When not writing or acting, she enjoys painting and nature walks. Her paintings and sculptures are collected worldwide. At one point, she performed stand-up comedy, so her writing often reflects her love of humor, even for serious subjects. She lives with her cats Dezi, Teger and Riley, and among feral cats she has rescued. She is the author of A BLUE MOON, an urban fantasy, HORROR AT THE LAKE, a vampire trilogy and A PALETTE FOR MURDER, a traditional, cozy mystery.

Susan Runcan has a legacy that she is trying to piece together.  Her grandfather  was labeled a thief, despite accomplishments most would dream of.  Her uncle was murdered by a vampire, says one woman labeled as crazy.  Susan is determined to get to the bottom of the mysteries of her family, at all cost. I enjoyed this story and will look for more from this author, which is good as this is the first in the series.

A well-written vampire mystery is hard to find, but Vanessa A. Ryan has accomplished the mission with The Legacy of Fear (Horror at the Lake). Protagonist Susan Runcan has inherited a lakeside home and precious artifacts her grandfather Lindon, an archeologist, stole from the Egyptian government. Ryan’s tension-filled writing kept me on the edge of my seat, anxious to discover why her protagonist’s grandfather had risked his reputation to obtain the artifacts. While trying to clear his name, Susan Runcan encounters horrors as well as fascinating facts about archeology and Egyptian history. Happily, Horror at the Lake is just the first of a series of three books by author Ryan
