A powerful dragon guardian, a headstrong heroine, and a destiny that will make them both the greatest legends of their time ... The epic conclusion is finally here!
"Dragons, mysteries, and heroes of mythic proportions ... A great and very satisfying read." ★★★★★
Ever since leaving her home in Oescienne, Jahrra has known the fate awaiting her in the kingdom of Ghorium. She just didn't realize she'd be unprepared when that day arrived. After all, the prophecy has never been clear on how she is to defeat the Crimson King, only that if it is to be done, she is the one who must find a way. But time is running short, and Jahrra only hopes she'll find the answers before it is too late ...
With Nimbronia and the reluctant Creecemind dragons behind them, Jaax and his ward travel with their friends to Dhonoara, the valley of the elves, where the Coalition of Ethoes gathers to prepare for battle. But the Tanaan dragon isn't as confident as usual; there are far too many devious players in this game, and it is no longer just about winning or losing for him. Freedom from the Tyrant and his ancient curse may come at too high a price.
As open war looms, both Jahrra and Jaax will be tested in mind, body, heart, and spirit. Old friends and enemies will emerge, and secrets that have remained buried for centuries will finally be revealed. Even if Jahrra does the impossible by destroying the evil festering in the east, it will come at a great cost. For battles are not fought without risk; wars are not won without sacrifice. In the end, Jahrra must find the strength to do what she must, and the courage to endure her greatest challenge yet.

as she wrote this series it got better and better with each book. I enjoyed the series.
I actually looked forward for the outcome of this story which is by the way a great series. The only thing that I really hate and the reason I gave it 3 stars is the main character should have eventually matured by at least the end of the 3 book. I really wanted to love this character but found myself disliking her a lot. Yes she's a teenager but with what she had to endure one would think it would have made her grow up. Another thing I hated was the countless times of the "kissing and making up" EVERY other chapter it seemed. I mean it was soo frekkin irritating. Other than that I liked it but would have loved this series if I could have liked the main character but I couldn't even though I tried.
Reviewed by Divine Zape for Readers' Favorite The Reckoning is the fifth and final book in The Legend of Oescienne series by Jenna Elizabeth Johnson, an epic fantasy tale with an enchanting setting, compelling characters, mythical creatures and a conflict of huge proportions. Jahrra is the one destined to defeat the evil Crimson King, the one spoken of in the prophecy, but how she will do this is still unclear to her. The only problem is that the moment comes quicker than she expected and she is still a long way to figuring out how to defeat the most powerful enemy in the land. On another front, Jaax travels to the valley of the elves, seeking the help they need to bring down a ruthless tyrant. The Tanaan dragon shows signs that there could be more danger than Jaax might have thought. Two destinies at the crossroads, mysterious plots, and deadly enemies at every step of the way. Jenna Elizabeth Johnson crafts a work that will stay with readers. The beauty of the setting and how it reflects in the story is one of the things to praise this author for. The reader is greeted with vivid images that set the atmosphere — the icy breeze whispering across the vast tundra and ruffling the short, tough grass, the frigid sea and the cold mountains, and other rough conditions. The conclusion to this epic series is dramatic and explosive, a tale that inspires similar feelings reader have when traveling the world created by J.R.R. Tolkien. The prose is exquisite, at times lyrical, and the narrative evokes the proverbial conflict between good and evil. The themes of war, adventure, and sacrifice are well developed. The characters evolve steadily with the story and I loved how the author builds the strength of the protagonist. I loved Jahrra and her sense of daring. I loved her in the choices she makes — difficult choices. The plot is intricately structured with surprises and turns that will give readers many an "Aha!" moment. The Reckoning is engaging and utterly delightful, a transporting kind of read.
