About the Story

The inspiration behind Judy Lowe’s story of the little white light began several years ago before and after her husband, Sam Lowe, passed away. At the time, she did not understand it or why it started appearing. She never was afraid or uncomfortable about it and even started talking to it. Not only has it continued to appear every night and every morning, but even sometimes during the day. It has continued to make its presence known to Judy through several years of caring for her mother, who recently passed away as well.

It is Judy’s hope that children of all ages, and adults as well, will discover their very own little white light and be inspired by it.

About the Author

Judy is a retired Talented & Gifted teacher in the Dallas Independent School District in Dallas, Texas. Since 1966, she has acquired a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a Certificate in Gifted and Talented Education. Her hobbies are reading, working in the yard, walking, and being outside.

Judy enjoys musicals, attending The Vocal Majority performances, traveling, and watching many programs on PBS, the Hallmark and History channel. She is a member of the Dallas Museum of Art, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Dallas ISD TAG Educators Alumni, KERA, North Texas Book Festival and Texas Association of Authors.

PUBLICATIONS AND AWARDS

Judy's first book, The Little White Light, received Honorable Mention in the 2015 North Texas Book Festival category Children's Books Ages 1-6, and Honorable Mention in the 2017 New England Book Festival. Her second book, MJ's New Friend, received Second Place in the 2015 North Texas Book Festival category Children's Books Ages 6-12. Judy's third book, An Almost Very Scary Day, was published in November of 2015 and was a 2016 Book Excellence Award finalist. Both The Little White Light and An Almost Very Scary Day received the 5-star Seal from Readers Favorite. The hardcover, Spanish edition of The Little White Light, titled La pequeña luz blanca, was published in July 2017 and received First Place in the 2018 North Texas Book Festival Spanish Language Books/Children category. The Spanish edition of MJ's New Friend, titled El nuevo amigo de MJ, was published in September 2018 and received First Place in the 2019 North Texas Book Festival Spanish Language Books/Children category. The Spanish edition of An Almost Very Scary Day, titled Un día casi muy aterrador, was published in 2019. The French edition of The Little White Light, title La petite lumière blanche, was published in 2020.
