About the Author

Howard Pyle (1853-1911) was an American writer and illustrator. He wrote a number of works aimed at younger readers, including his classics THE MERRY ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, THE STORY OF THE CHAMPIONS OF THE ROUND TABLE and THE BOOK OF PIRATES. Many of the Arthurian legends and those of Robin Hood entered American popular consciousness through Pyle's writings.
