The Mirror, and a Familiar Blue: A Collection of Short Stories
The Mirror, and a Familiar Blue is a collection of seventeen short stories I have written. While letting my fourth novel's first draft 'cool in the drawer', I mentioned to my wife I was reading a book of short stories. I told her I used to write short stories. She asked me why I didn't write them now. I told her I wasn't sure. I simply migrated away from writing them as I focused on novels. I told her I had several stories written. A couple had been published but that was a lifetime ago. She asked me why I didn't put them together and publish them as a book of short stories. The more I thought about her suggestion the more I liked the idea.

So - here is my book of short stories. They are varied in subject matters. One thing they all have in common is they are all born through my observations of everyday life. At the end of each short story I have included a short explanation of what inspired the story.

About the Author

Ronnie L. Richards was raised in rural Oklahoma. He fell in love with reading as a young boy. He would use the fictional reality of the books he read to escape the harsh reality of his childhood. By the time he was thirteen, he had read most of the books in his small town of Kingfisher's library. Ronnie doesn't have a favorite genre. He likes any book that pulls him into the character's lives and takes him along with them on their journey.

Ronnie has worked as a farm/ranch hand, at a full-service gas station, as a convenience store clerk, as an electrician, as a construction laborer, as a crane operator, as a fireman and EMT, spent 22 years in Oil & Gas operations starting as a roughneck and working his way up the ladder to overseeing operations in fourteen states, worked as a bouncer in the largest Gentleman's club in Oklahoma, drove an 18 wheeler, worked in Information Technology for 29 years, and is currently retired. He received his BSB; MIS from Oklahoma City University in 1993 - graduating magna cum laude.

Ronnie uses his life experiences to add believability to his writing.

Mr. Richards lives in Enid, Oklahoma with his wife Michelle and their dog Koda.
