The Mirror
This is a suspenseful story of a young man's sage for freedom. He escapes from a Louisiana plantation and venture on to the Free State of Ohio where he finds work in an ammunition factory. During this time he becomes self educated, and after the Civil War, he returns to the south to teach school.
After the Civil war and Reconstruction, his life becomes unbearable and his disenchantment with the living conditions in the South leads him to migrate to the New Republic of Liberia. This foreign trek changed his life, but the freedom he sought was a distant illusion.
Eventually, his descendant migrated back to America and resided in the State of Louisiana where this saga will take on a suspenseful supernatural twist.
This story is about patriotism, hardships, romantic love and a family's struggle to assimilate into two different societies as people of color. The trials and tribulations are not deterrents, but they bring out the family's strengths, and the will to continue onward. This is an odyssey that will be long remembered by the reader.
