The Navy SEAL's E-Mail Order Bride (Heroes of Chance Creek, #1) by Cora Seton

Mason Hall, Navy SEAL, knows all about difficult assignments, but his current mission is one for the record books. Not only must he find a wife—and get her pregnant—or forfeit the ranch his family has prized for generations, he must also convince his three brothers to marry, too—before the year is up. Who knew one city girl and three wayward brothers could put up such a fight?

Regan Anderson can’t wait any longer to meet Mr. Right, so she’s taken matters into her own hands. She’s quit her job, given up her nice apartment and undergone all the preliminary appointments to prepare for artificial insemination. Still, becoming a single mother is daunting, so when she spots Mason’s Wife Wanted ad on the Internet one night, she’s ready for a few laughs. She’s sure the ad must be fake, but when Mason answers back, she soon finds herself wanting more than a long distance relationship.

If Mason can just keep her talking until he makes it home from Afghanistan, he’s sure he can convince Regan he’s her man. But when he whisks her off for a trial run in Chance Creek, they’re in for an unpleasant surprise. The ranch is in ruins, the house has been stripped, and they’re going to have to work day and night to beat Mason’s deadline to win it back.

Can two strangers pull together against all odds? Or is this mission doomed to fail?

This is definitely an interesting twist on dating! Mason Hall has been notified by his Great Aunt Heloise that his uncle passed away and that the ranch Mason and his brothers grew up on has come back into Heloise’s possession. Heloise would love nothing more than to give the ranch back to the Hall boys but she has some stipulations attached to the ranch. All four boys need to find wives and at least one of them has to have fathered a child within a year’s time. Not only that, they have to get the ranch up and running with cattle in that same year. If they do not meet these requirements within the time frame, the ranch will be given to their uncle’s son, who already has a children and no interest in working the ranch. No pressure, right? So Mason makes an online profile for himself and his brothers since they are all deployed overseas to help speed up the search of finding wives. Needless to say, the boys are reluctant but Mason convinces them to try and also takes on the responsibility of getting his wife pregnant first so that’s one less matter his brothers have to worry about. Regan is a lonely woman in New York who wants to have a baby more than anything. So much so that she’s planning on going through artificial insemination treatments. Regan is tired of waiting for a good man to show up so she’s taking things into her own hands. She’s got everything planned out. Little does she know that she changed her destiny with a night of too much drinking while watching a Pride and Prejudice movie and perusing the online dating profiles of four military men looking for wives.  Had she really answered a Wife Wanted ad? While channeling Jane Austen? Drunk on a mixture of wine and tequila? So much for her self-image as an intelligent, mature woman. Mason responded back and their friendship quickly blossomed into more. Regan has no plans on leaving New York but Mason slowly changes her mind and invites her to his home to see if she might like the idea of a life as a rancher’s wife. Can Mason and Regan find what they need in each other or will they let fear and failure prematurely end what could possibly be the start of forever? This book was very refreshing. I love that the hero wasn’t a womanizer and he believed in hard work and honor. I also loved Regan and how despite her fears, took a chance on Mason and Chance Creek. She worked beside Mason daily and was a solid and loving partner to him and they complemented each other beautifully. I love the humor in this book, but what really tore at my heartstrings was Mason having to clean up his uncle’s mess and paying off the substantial debts his uncle incurred all around town. It totally crushed my spirit and I thought it would break Mason’s resolve as well, but he kept on going with the support and encouragement of Regan. I really loved the story but I would have loved to have seen more of the secondary characters. I love small town books and I’m looking forward to learning more about Austin, Zane and Colt Hall as well as the rest of the town of Chance Creek. I’m curious to see if one of the remaining brothers will be choosing a local lady to call his own. The author did an excellent job of nonchalantly having one of the secondary characters asking about the brothers and my interest is piqued! This is an adult romance book but there’s not much cursing, if any and the intimate scenes were done tastefully. I recommend this read to anyone who is a sucker for small town country life and a hard-earned happily ever after.

## I so enjoyed reading this story. I loved the way these two met. Their chemistry was great and the story itself interesting and fun. Perfect length as well (155 pages). Sometimes ranching books can drag on and become boring. Not so here. There were secondary characters but they were kept secondary where they belong. The author toed that line perfectly. My only complaint was that there really wasn't any conflict, hence the 4 stars. I felt like their story needed one major conflict to provide a climax and resolution. Regardless, I did love it.

Four brothers.  Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.  They grew up on a ranch in Montana till their father died and they were forced out by their uncle.  Now the uncle I dead and they have a chance to get the ranch back.  But it comes with strings.  They each need to find a wife.  Mason, the oldest, is just getting out of the Navy and tasked with not only finding a wife but getting her with child within a year.  He has never backed down from a challenge and won’t back down now.    There has long been a tradition of mail order brides for ranchers out west.  This story is the modern version.  It is funny, sad, sweet and sexy.  I look forward to seeing how the rest of the brothers fare.

This was an ok read. I had to skim over parts that to me were just rambling. I liked Regan and Mason. And i liked the story line. It just wasnt one of those books that i would tell people "you have to read it". Im probaby not going to read the other books in this series.

Very enjoyable read.  Great starting concept - 4 brothers have to get married so oldest sets up an online profile for them all.  Prospective brides can look at all of them at once and then pick the one she wants to write to.  This is Mason's story and was a fun, believable read.  I liked that he was mature enough to reveal his "secret" early enough on and without the need for manufactured drama.  I would have liked to see a bit more development of the secondary characters.  Not the other brothers (who will each have their own book) necessarily, but the new friends Regan makes and other townspeople.  Note to the author:  as someone who was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, I can tell you that the residents of Middleton would NOT like it being referred to as a suburb of Madison!  LOL.

A crazy start and ride for 2 folks with the same interests. Timing and deadlines play an important part to the ending.

This was a really good book. I’ve been disappointed with other books on here but this one had me smiling during most of it. Mason and Regan didn’t have the typical love story all books contain (i.e. boy meets girl, boy and girl fall involve, they break up, and then get back together in the end). Just be aware that this book is part of a series. The other books are not free.

I enjoyed the story of Mason and Regan. Four brothers who must marry within one year in order to obtain their family range. This book is about Mason the oldest brother an ex seal and Regan who wants a family of her own.

This is my favorite of Cora's mini Chance Creek series thus far. The chemistry between Reagan and Mason will leave your heart racing.

Ok story, the beginning, when they were emailing, had me hooked. I had lost interest in the end. The other mail order bride story seemed ok.

I almost read without stopping. I really liked this book, but it ended very abruptly. 154 pages so a quick read. This would have gotten 5 stars if there had been an epilogue & kinda leaves you hanging. Not a cliff hanger. It ended so quick it was a shock. 3,5 stars. GJRA
