Modern trends in studying the development of economic and political thought are what greatly sparked the writer's interest in studying the development of financial thought. This study, which dealt with the development of financial thought and its role in the course of general human thought, is due to the continuity between old and new thought on the one hand, and because financial thought has had an impact on adapting financial policy on the other hand. The author was also interested in examining the field of public finance and its methods, the relationship between finance, economics, and politics, and the place that financial theory occupies in social development. Our attention was paid in particular to those distinguished ancient financiers whose ideas and teachings had a significant impact on what financial theory has reached today.
