The book "Dictionary of Islamic Philosophers and Their Philosophical History" is a historical philosophical dictionary in which the author establishes the history of Islamic philosophers through a comprehensive study. The book deals with the lives of Islamic philosophers, their philosophical influences, the relationships that connected them with the ministers and princes of their time, the moral virtues that were transmitted from them, and the philosophical theories that they developed, in addition to their excellence in various sciences through which they contributed to the advancement of Islamic civilization. The book devotes an extensive chapter to talking about Sufism, with a comparison between Western philosophers in a scientific manner that takes the scientific scale as evidence of the merit of Islamic philosophers and their intellectual superiority.

فرح أنطون: صحافي وروائي ومسرحي وكاتب سياسي واجتماعي، ورائد من رواد حركة التنوير في العالم العربي أواخر القرن التاسع عشر وأوائل القرن العشرين، اشتهر بدعوته للتسامح الديني بين المسلمين والمسيحيين وكان اشتراكي التوجه، تأثر بأفكار المصلحين الأوروبيين مثل روسو وفولتير ورنيان ومونتسكيو، وكذلك بفلاسفة عرب ومسلمين كابن رشد وابن طفيل والغزالي وعمر الخيام. وُلد في طرابلس الشام عام 1874، والتحق بالمدرسة الابتدائية الأرثوذكسية ثم بمعهد كفتين حيث أتقن الفرنسية وتخرج منه عام 1890. هاجر إلى الإسكندرية عام 1897 وبدأ نشاطه الفكري والثقافي، وأصدر مجلات مثل «الجامعة» و«السيدات» التي أصدرها لأخته روز أنطون. كتاباته تعكس مفارقة فكرية إذ آمن بالتيار الإنساني الغربي الذي يرفض التمييز، ولكنه سعى لنشر النظريات الغربية في الشرق العربي باعتبارها حيادية، مما أثار تحفظات البعض. كان لأنطون إنتاج فكري غزير في الأدب والسياسة والاجتماع والفلسفة والمسرح والرواية، وتوفي في القاهرة عام 1922.
