And the hits just keep on coming  ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 hearts for a wonderful, heartwarming romance. I love DGS's books, she is one of the best contemporary romance writers, if not the best.

Denise Grover Swank does a wonderful job with everything she writes.  Rose is still my favorite, but I loved The Player! I adored Bailey in The Substitute but I wanted to kick her too.  I couldn't wait to read her story and it was everything I could have hoped for.  I don't think this is a spoiler to say the ending was PERFECT.  I was so proud of her.  Garrett is awesome!

I received a ARC for my honest review. I love Denise Grover Swank's books. Denise has such a command with words she is pure genius. I usually stick to her paranormal books being thats the genre I like to read. I was given the chance to read this book before the release and thought why not. I was greatly impressed with the way Denise writes about romance. I was instantly taken back to my teenage years when I first got into reading Harlequin and Silhouette books. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

The Player is book two in The Wedding Pact series by Denise Grover Swank. This author can just about do it all. She can make you laugh, make you cry, make you angry, and make you sigh. This book covers just about all of these emotions. Blair Anne Myers Hansen is a tough woman, or at least she wants you to think she is. There is only one man that she has ever let see her vulnerable side and that was five years ago and he was the man that broke her heart. Now she is a divorce attorney. She sees the worst side of love, the side that happens after all the flutters wear off. She is never going to allow herself to be in that position so she is getting ready to marry a man that she sees as safe. A non-passionate union that is beneficial to them both. She needs to be married to be promoted to partner in her law firm. This is what she wants, right? The career, the safe marriage? But what about love? Garrett Lowry never got over Blair. After they broke up, he tried to fill the emptiness with every female he could get his hands on. But five years later, nothing worked. She was the only woman he wanted. All of a sudden, he finds himself face to face with her. Could this be fate giving him a second chance to win her back. But she is wearing an engagement ring. Come to find out, she is marrying his cousin who he has never liked. But he has a week. Can he prove to her that he still loves her and that his cousin is not the man for her, that he is the only man that she should be marrying? Neil is the man Blair is supposed to be marrying. Let me just get to the point here. Neil is worse than a snake in the grass. He is worse than pond scum. He is worse than mold. But when all of this seems so easy to see to me, Blair seemed blind to it all. Maybe she just didn’t want to see it. When Garrett was thrust back into her life, her emotions woke up. She finally started to question what it was that she really wanted. “As she stared at him now, an undeniable feeling of longing rose up within her, and she wasn’t sure she had the strength to stay away from him.” So…when you throw together one very stressed out bride to be, one man willing to do anything to win back the woman he loves, one conniving low life groom to be, a crazy monster-in-law mother of the groom, two feuding mothers, a couple of crazy grannies, what do you get…CHAOS! This book was so much fun as these characters stumbled through all the pre-wedding festivities. I laughed out loud more than once. But one emotion I wasn’t prepared to feel so strongly was anger. I caught myself talking, or maybe it was yelling, at Blair. Wanting her to see what I saw. This book was a crazy ride that kept me entertained from the beginning to the end. I also loved re-visiting Megan and Josh from the first book of this series, The Substitute, and getting a glimpse into their wedded bliss. Denise Grover Swank has done it again with The Player and I look forward to the next book in the series, The Gambler which will be Libby’s story.

As you all know by now, Denise Grover Swank is one of my favorite authors. I will pretty much read whatever she writes, so of course it shouldn't be a surprise that I dived into this new story the first chance I got. In True Denise Grover Swank fashion, the story catches you from the first word and it doesn't leave you until the last sentence. The book is filled with romance, heartbreak, laughter and some pretty interesting characters. Both ones you will fall in love with and of course those you will hate. From the moment I finished The Substitute, I couldn't wait to read Blair's story. Considering how pragmatic and distrustful she was of Josh in the first book, I knew that for her to find her true love it will take an extraordinary man and special circumstances. I have to say that I really enjoyed getting to know Blair better. The heartbreak she lived through and being disappointed more than once in her life formed her to be the cutthroat divorce lawyer she is. Blair is independent and strong and of course she needs a strong man beside her. Unfortunately, that's not the man she is going to marry. If I have to be honest, Neil kind of gave me the creeps most of the time. And with good reason. Garret on the other hand, is a completely different thing. He is quite the man candy and he is also Blair's other half in every way. And the fact that they have history together doesn't hurt :) Their interactions through the story are sometimes fun, sometimes heartbreaking, frustrating or even down right fun. I loved that Garret was ready to give up everything for his one true love. And with a lot of help from Nana Ruby and their friends Garret and Blair find they HEA :) I quite enjoyed also reconnecting with the characters from the first book :) It was quite fun to see what happened after the wedding with Meghan and Josh and their crazy family :)  In a few words, this is definitely an interesting and fun read :) It has a little bit of everything: romance, deception, heartbreak, fun and of course some hot scenes that will definitely increase the temperature :) The characters are quite interesting and will make you connect with them and feel what they feel. Or said in short, another page turner by the great Denise Grover Swank. Now the only thing left is to wait impatiently for the last story in The Wedding Pact Series. And I am sure it will be another captivating story :) This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review

3 1/2 stars. The minute I finished The Substitute, I downloaded this second book in the series and while it was entertaining, I found this one to be a bit too contrived. Don't let that put you off the series, though, the 3rd installment (The Gambler) is right back up there in the 5 star range with The Substitute.

I liked the book but it seemed a bit off with some crazy wedding relatives.

I do not agree with the good reviews. This booked lacked emotion, excitement, real life drama. The female main character was not likeable at all, she was downright rude, and selfish and very bitter. There was nothing special about the male character either. The author tried to make the book humorous but it fell short. The humor actually felt forced and ended up just being stupid and fake. The whole book was very unrealistic it was hard to finish it. No i would not recommend this book. GTx
