The Portland Autopsies
Dr. Trevor Knight, having survived his ordeal in The Misophonic Murders, has accepted a position as the head of psychiatry at the prestigious University of California, San Francisco.
Trying to come to grips with the loss of Chief John B. Smelly, Knight intends to get as far away from Paltry Station and its horrific memories as he can.
Life has found him enjoying his new career and oceanfront home until the specter of a serial killer drags him back into the dangerous world of crime solving.
Knight works with Detective Lance Lange from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office as he attempts to decipher a ten-year-killing spree that has terrorized the Portland, Oregon, area as well as the entire country.
The monster has returned, more sinister than before, and allied itself with the most evil of partners.
Only the most brilliant of minds and solid belief in a higher power can save him as he uses his intellect, solid faith, and of course, his grandmother Shelly Mahl's advice to survive the horror that has come to visit him.
Murder is just a game, and it is.
"Your move," Dr. Knight said.

About the Author

Joseph R. Lange was born March 20, 1954, one of ten children, five sisters and four brothers. He grew up in Owen, Wisconsin, and then at the age of ten moved to Abbotsford, Wisconsin.
Growing up east of Smallville, he spent his days trying to be a mountain man where there were no mountains, hunting and trapping in areas now occupied by buildings. Memories only remain of the adventures in the deep forest now forever gone.
BB gun fights and bonger hits, God, the adventures he had.
Many an adventure was shared with his younger brother James who is mentioned a few times in the Thoughts trilogy—Thoughts from a Treestand, Wisdom’s Harvest: East of Smallville, and Contemplations: Through the Fog of My Life.
The Misophonic Murders was published in 2019 and is a tongue-in-cheek look at a small-town cop dealing with issues he was ill prepared to deal with.
Thoughts, Moments, and Memories is a return to some of his favorites from fifty years of observing God’s wonders held deep within the forest and woodlots of Wisconsin.
The Portland Autopsies sees Dr. Trevor Knight, fresh from his surviving The Misophonic Murders, investigating the serial killer plaguing the Portland, Oregon, area.
Many occupations were had in his life—gas-station worker, construction worker, taxidermist, electrician, truck driver, deputy sheriff, facilities manager, security supervisor, and facilities director for St. Joseph’s Hospital and Marshfield Clinic. He retired as systems director of facilities and maintenance for the Marshfield Clinic Health Systems.
He is married to Michelle and has two wonderful daughters, Helen and Krissy.
God gave him four grandsons, Trevor, Tanner, Jack, and Joseph.
What the love of a mother can do for a young man trying to find his way without a penny in his pocket.
If you get anything from reading these memories of these bygone times, understand how short life is and what truly matters and more importantly, what does not.
