Reviewed by Lit Amri for Readers' Favorite Bill Weston is an astute businessman, trusted and well liked by many. Yet he becomes greedy and starts to line his pockets with the investors’ hard-earned money. His investment gradually turns into a Ponzi scheme. Some of his so-called charity organizations were never meant to help the needy – the donation money sponsors his lavish lifestyle instead. He’s good at covering his misdeeds, until now. One wrongful death suit and a business complaint are all it takes to start the domino effect of his downfall. Bill is a cornered animal, and he couldn’t stand the thought of being sent to prison. When the FBI raids his house, he disappears. This is the second book I've read by D.F. Holland, and The Promise of a New Tomorrow doesn’t disappoint. Holland maintains her clear cut and highly engaging writing style. It shouldn’t be hard to relate to the story at all. There are many Bill Weston type businessmen out there. In fact, this story instantly reminds me of the infamous Bernie Madoff. The moral message here needs no explanation. Amusingly, the character Bill still thought that he did some good for society during his moments of infamy. So where did Bill disappear to? This is the best part of the plot and I leave it to readers to find out for themselves. With a crisp, creative and a cleverly drawn out storyline, D.F. Holland once again delivers a fast paced and compelling short supernatural mystery wrapped around a story about greed and karma.
