Reviewed by Rosie Malezer for Readers' Favorite The Reapers is the first book in the paranormal series, The Hunted, written by Ali Winters. Nivian is a Silencer amongst the Reapers. Well respected, she has a perfect track record, but that changes the day she is pitted against a Hunter named Kain. Unlike other humans, who can only see Nivian as she is reaping their souls, Kain can clearly see Nivian and vows to learn all about her. Nivian slowly gets to know Kain – a concept which is foreign to her, because she only lets her marks see her as she is collecting their souls. It doesn’t help matters that Kain is unaware of his Hunter status, or that Nivian has been instructed to destroy Kain. As his Hunter powers awaken, will Kain be able to destroy the woman who has consumed his thoughts so completely? Only Nivian holds the key to their fate, as she is not only the most powerful Reaper to exist, but is also drawn to Kain for all of the wrong reasons. Ali Winters’ first book in The Hunted series drew me in from the get go. Living each day and night for just one purpose, Nivian is pulled out of her ritualistic life by a human who not only notices her, but is determined to get to know her better. I found so many parts of Nivian’s and Kain’s tale utterly hilarious, in that Nivian has never personally interacted with humans on a basic level, except when she is reaping their soul prior to death. She takes everything Kain says literally, causing many misunderstandings which are just too funny for words. When things get serious between them, they are suddenly called on to destroy each other, regardless of Kain’s non-existent threat. I was truly enamored at Kain’s ability to lure Nivian into his world of charm and romance, but not knowing whether they would choose to go against the grain and pursue an unprecedented love is what kept me going to the very end. I very much enjoyed Ali Winters’ paranormal tale, and recommend The Reapers to fans of the paranormal, who love a hearty dose of suspense, action and romance packed into their love-hate-love stories.

Nivian is chasing her mark when the weirdest thing happens.... A human sees her! A human can't see a reaper unless a reaper wants to be seen; and she for one did not like being seen during reaps. Silas, the head reaper, figures out that it is not a human at all, but a watcher; or what they now call hunters. Silas is so scared of the imbalance that hunters cause, he gave Nivian a new mark. The hunter Kain Evers. She then tries to confront him about being a hunter, but he doesn't know anything about his double life. After that, she starts spending time with him and falls for him. Will the war between the reapers and the hunters tear them apart? It is a great book! I like the plot and how there are reapers (guardians of death) and watchers/hunters (guardians of life). I think it's funny how the main character, Nivian, said she had never tried a hamburger before, so when she tries it she can't help but stuff her face.

The Reapers by Ali Winters is the first book in the Hunted Series. I listened to this book on audio narrated by Sarah Colton. Sarah did a great job narrating and I can't wait to hear future projects by her. This is the first book of Ali's that I have read and look forward to reading more of her books in the future. The storyline really pulled me. I enjoyed the multiple points of view through out the book so I was able to get into all the characters head. The romance portion of the story was very subtle which is perfect for the YA Genre. Heads up the storyline does end on a cliffhanger. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys YA, Paranormal, or Fantasy books. AudioBookObsessionReviewer #AudioBookObsession

This is a fast-paced and enjoyable Young Adult Paranormal, with a splash of Romance in the shape of love triangle (sort of) thrown in. Nivian has been doing her job for years with no problems, when she suddenly starts noticing a man there each time. What is worse is that he seems to notice her too, which should be impossible. Then Reapers start disappearing, and the common link is that man that Nivian keeps seeing. Following conversations with Caspian (her boss... sort of) she finds out just who and what he is. Things are not always black and white though, and both Kain and Nivian have choices to make. There were parts to this story that I absolutely loved, and parts not so much. I am not a fan of the triangle, even a version like this one. It builds up to a climatic ending where you will need to keep your wits about you as you move swiftly from one scene to another. If you want a clean Paranormal that has a brilliant take on reapers, old man time, scythes, etc, then I can recommend this. * I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
