The scientific aspect of Sheikh Suleiman Al-Sunaie's biography
This book represents a link in a series of works through which the author seeks to comprehensively introduce the biography of one of the prominent scholars who lived in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in the fourteenth century AH; he is Sheikh Suleiman bin Abdul Rahman Al-Sani', who was born in 1323 AH and died in 1389 AH. His life was full of giving in all its aspects, from his childhood and the beginning of his education in the Kuttab of Al-Jawdariyyah Mosque, then his entry into the Rushdiyyah School and the School of Improving Calligraphy, then his joining the scholars of the Grand Mosque, and then the rise of his sun and the crystallization of his scholarly personality in many fields, in addition to the official positions he assumed. The scholarly aspect is considered the most prominent aspect of Sheikh Suleiman Al-Sani's life, and the book before us is an attempt to highlight the features of this aspect through insights, pauses, and reflections on the Sheikh's biography; by discussing his early love of reading and collecting books, his contact with scholars, and by attempting to answer important questions, including: Who were his sheikhs? What was his status among scholars? What were his academic licenses? When did he assume the position of sheikh and teacher? What was his relationship with scholars and researchers? How active was he in copying and documenting? What was the extent of his knowledge of the method of verification and documentation? What were his efforts in the field of authorship and verification? Then we discuss his assignment to manage the library of the Holy Mosque in Mecca, and the basis of that assignment on the scholarly status of Sheikh Suleiman, may God have mercy on him. The book contains, in its last pages, a number of documentary photos as examples of some of what was mentioned in the text of Sheikh Suleiman's transcriptions, notes, and correspondence.
