All enlightened beings, most founders of religions and many renowned scientists knew and understood the six principles of enlightenment. These universal truths have been written about, taught and discussed for thousands of years yet remain shrouded in mystery and misinterpretation. This book seeks to remove that shroud.

The Six Principles of Enlightenment and Meaning of Life is an intellectual and spiritual work that explains the six significant universal truths woven throughout science, religion and philosophy. These principles draw upon thousands of years of wisdom and are presented in a concise, accessible format. Each principle is defined and has an explanation on its application to life; they are further supported by quotes of wisdom from enlightened beings, philosophers, artists and scientists like Buddha, Albert Einstein, Rumi, Stephen Hawking and Jesus. Understanding the six principles then unlocks the meaning of life which is explained in the final chapter.

Russell has produced something almost impossible to imagine in such a brief number of pages, an accessible wide-ranging exploration of the very meaning of life.  It helps for me that his conclusions very much match my own views, though I cannot imagine being able to express them as lucidly and in such an interesting way as he does.  Russell sees the entirety of existence as one and he includes in that oneness a universal underlying intelligence.  His vision is more rewarding than that which you find in basic pantheism and reading his book allows you to look out upon the world with the wonder of a new arrival in this most amazing place.  One point on which I have difficulty is the suggestion (which later appears to be tempered and more or less satisfactorily resolved) namely the idea that since all us are one there is really no difference between (a) that which we usually consider as good or (b) that which we consider to be evil. In other words the idea that morality is a subjective invention of man. The consequences of  this uncomfortable notion are balanced by his answer to the question "Then why should anyone choose to lead a virtuous life?" "Harmony and happiness is the result of a virtuous, enlightened life while discord and suffering is the result of a selfish and ignorant life. The Universe is just expressing itself in every possible variation, to experience itself and you get to choose which one you prefer. If you wish to live in a reality of peace, harmony and love, you will choose an enlightened path. If you wish to live in a reality of pain, suffering and hatred, you will choose to ignore the wisdom that would free you from this unpleasant reality"   This book is full of food for thoughtful reflection and I am pleased that Russell has allowed me the opportunity to review it.

Reviewed by Hilary Hawkes for Readers' Favorite The Six Principles of Enlightenment and Meaning of Life by Russell Anthony Gibbs combines scientific, philosophical and religious ideas and understandings to present a theory of the meaning and purpose of life. The author sets out six universal truths - Oneness, Manifestation, Multiple Realities, Timelessness, Neutrality and Openness – and argues how these are truths and how we can apply them to our approach and understanding of life and ourselves. Drawing on discoveries and theories from both scientific/quantum physics and spiritual interpretations, Gibbs' book offers a positive, thought-provoking and empowering understanding, and so a way of living. Concise and well-written, The Six Principles of Enlightenment and Meaning of Life is a well-researched and concise overview. Drawing on the works and words of Einstein, Buddha, Christ, Rumi, Dalai Lama, Thich Naht Hanh and many others, Russell Anthony Gibbs presents us with a sensible and unique way to explore and begin to understand ourselves (with our beliefs, emotions and thoughts), our lives, and our place and part in the entire universe. The author’s writing style is both intelligent and thoroughly readable, making this a very accessible book for all who question and seek the meaning of life. Each of the six principles is carefully presented, and then expanded and explained, and supported by the findings and wisdom of philosophers and scientists. I particularly liked the emphasis on our ability to change and become through our own thoughts and beliefs, i.e. what we focus on manifests, and the exploration of time as an illusion. There is a useful index of quoted authors at the end of the book for those wishing to research or read further. A wise, encouraging, and potentially life changing book that will fascinate and inform all those seeking spiritual truths and enlightenment.

Mr. Gibbs writes in a way that simplifies it all for the reader. He has taken facts and proven theories from a variety of esteemed spiritualist, scientist, professors, religious leaders, and teachers, and compiled it in a way that makes it so comprehensible. This book should remain on your bedside to pick up on a daily basis to remind us what we already know or where our journey here on earth is taking us. Very thought provoking.

This well written and articulate work helps you understand the Universe/God and our relationship to it. It is concise but covers the complex principles quite well. The author’s voice is extremely clear and he supports his arguments with a wealth of meaningful quotes from both scientists and spiritual authorities. This book is a significant summary of the most profound spiritual, scientific, and philosophical principles covering the span of human history. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has ever thought about the meaning of life, the pursuit of happiness, or is a spiritual seeker themselves. Constance Messmer Author, Speaker and Educator

This first book is intended as an intellectual overview of enlightenment and to help explain the big picture of our existence. An intense desire for answers, understanding and enlightenment compelled me to seek out wisdom and write this book. Einstein, Buddha, Rumi and Jesus are my greatest influences and their quotes truly speak to me. I also found the channeled material of the entities Seth and Abraham, to be amazing rich and useful. These six teachers each have slightly different ways to explain the complex principles. When you hear the different explanations and compare, you can get a much better understanding of their messages. My hope is that these principles will provide positive and empowering tools for you to better understand and live your life.
