The Synergetic Follower
There are thousands of books, millions of articles, and a billion blogs and tweets on leadership. There are also a few books and articles on followership, but most of them are from the viewpoint of the leader, that is, how to recruit and develop good followers. This book is about what it takes to be a specific type of follower—a Synergetic Follower. Synergetic, is defined as, “working together in a creative, innovative, and productive manner.” These followers are content not to be the leader of their organization and are not interested in climbing the corporate ladder. Instead they are focused on working together with their colleagues in creative, innovative and productive ways to move the mission of their organization forward. As followers and follower-leaders, we have an incredible power—it’s the power of choosing who we want to follow and invest in. We have a choice to stay and contribute to the organization’s success—or leave and contribute to the success of someone else. There are lots of followers who make significant contributions to businesses, organizations, and communities every day. This book covers how to choose good leaders, what to do with bad leaders, the ten components of a Synergetic Follower, benefits to followership, being a follower and a leader at the same time and more. This book will encourage you to think differently about what it means to be a follower—and realize the transforming impact you can have as a Synergetic Follower.

He also taught as an adjunct professor at Fresno State University’s School of Business for many years. He has been a student of both leadership and followership for many years in a wide variety of businesses and organizations.
