About the Author

Larry Good grew up in Nottoway County, Virginia. Blackstone High School awarded him a diploma, the University of Virginia a B.A. in English, and the College of William and Mary a Master's Degree in Education. He was a young English teacher for about six years. He has four incomparable children.
He played football in high school, both offense and defense. The team won a regional championship. Practice was four afternoons a week, and it sometimes included tackling drills. These can be rough. The Tackling Dummy stepped forth from these experiences, desperately needing new canvas and a place to be.
Making only about 8,000 dollars a year as a young teacher, the author was offered the position of management trainee by the C & P Telephone Company. The large office was full of service representatives answering telephone calls from customers. If the man of the house called, the service representative began her record with the abbreviation, "mr cld." This was the origin of The Mistercald River, which flows through the middle of The Lands in this Series, "Across The Mistercald."
