I was tired and stressed out when I started this book, and when I finished 90 minutes later, I was relaxed and in a great mood. What more can you ask of a fun romance?  The heroine has seen something that has put her in danger, and I lovethe way the author builds  the suspense and finally resolves it. Our hero and heroine meet in a unique and funny way that continues to make for fun and complication. Not as deep as the sea or as wide as a barn door, but plenty engaging for a quick getaway with characters I'll want to revisit.

This book is about 140 pages. It had several funny parts and kept you turning pages. Totally enjoyable and well written. This was the first book I have read from this author and look forward to reading the second book in this series. If you are looking for a quick, fun book to read, I highly recommend this book.

Beth is the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding and needs a date. Many years earlier she had created an imaginary boyfriend named Charlie who she used any time she needed a boyfriend so that her friends and family wouldn't bother her about not having a boyfriend. Charlie had come in handy since she invented him in 7th grade. Beth made up an excuse of why Charlie couldn't make it to the wedding but her mother kept at her about why nobody has ever met Charlie so she thought she should somehow have Charlie show up. Beth accidentally found a man, Alex, trying to break into the best man's car (who is also her ex-boyfriend). She blackmails him with the break in saying she will not tell anyone about it if he will pretend to be Charlie for a few hours at the wedding, just so everyone can actually see Charlie and stop bugging Beth about him. Alex is more than happy to be Charlie because he is actually working undercover as a CIA agent and is investigating a person attending the wedding and this gives him a perfect opportunity to be at the wedding all weekend. Things get a bit dicy when Beth realizes that Alex (Charlie) is there for the weekend when she only wanted him there for a few hours. Alex (Charlie) and Beth have great chemistry which surprises both of them.  Beth's reaction to Alex's announcement of being a CIA agent is so funny. The entire book had me laughing out loud throughout it. Really Beth handles all the things that don't go the way she expects them to pretty well. Alex is so good to Beth and has promised he would protect her. Which he does as part of his job and because he has feelings for her. I liked this book and the opportunity to get lost in this hilarious novel.  I highly recommend it.

This is a really great book,  and quick read. The suspense part of the story line had the pages turning quickly. It was also a good romantic story.

Loved it! Good romantic suspense with just enough humor and romance. And a sexy CIA hero? Always a plus! This  is the first book of hers that I have read but not the last.

## Too many things bugged me about this book. First and most important....the heroine's description. God, I'm so tired of heroines with weight issues who are "NOT beautiful, NOT gorgeous but decent enough and kind of cute". It completely ruins the story for me. Why would this perfect, gorgeous, tall hero with his hard, muscular body, six pack abs and bright blue eyes be so attracted to her if she was so unattractive? There has to be SOME initial attraction. They had zero chemistry. Also, I cringed when she said "I love you" after 2 days. The hero even said "Don't say it" but indeed she did. Gah! And the way she let her mom and her ex-boyfriend insult her and walk all over her was pathetic. I'll never understand why a grown woman would let a parent speak to her like that. Cut that (b) itch loose. And lastly, the ending was incredibly rushed. Sorry, even free I can't recommend this book.

How the author eases us into believing how Beth and Alex get started was good. I enjoyed the story and it passed very quickly. Enjoyed the experience.

FUNNY BUT ALSO WITH A LOT OF SUSPENSE!  My first book by this author and I am not really into contemporary romance stories.  But, this one was free and a novella and I took a chance, so happy I did. The author made me fall in love with our h from the start, and oh our H is quite an alpha too.  This is funny, has intrigue, is different than the usual need a boyfriend story line.   There is HEA, no cliffhanger, passionate sex (but not during the whole book), and just a warm unique story.   I've signed up for the author's newsletter so I don't miss anything from her. I really enjoyed this book. Liked Beth from the very beginning and our hero, Alex was everything you would want in a hero.Beth was a loveable funny character and had me laughing throughout the story. Romance and suspense, it was worth taking the time to read. Already bought the second one. Some sexual content for those who want to know. JudyE

When I saw this cover on Netgalley recently, I just had to take a look. Then once I saw that this was a case of pretending to be someone else and at a wedding no less, throw in the undercover business and I was sold. It sounded like there would be plenty of opportunities for laughs. Beth Bradley is the Maid of Honor and Best Friend to the Bride at the wedding.  Her ex-boyfriend is the brother and Best Man to the Groom.  So after their break up, when he started serial dating again, she pulled out Charlie.  Charlie was her go-to-excuse-guy since she created him in 7th grade.  The only one who knows the truth is her best friend.  When she catches Alex going through her ex-boyfriends car in the parking lot, she blackmails him into pretending to be Charlie just long enough to explain that he can't stay. Alex Tanner is at the wedding, trying to figure out who is a double agent, using the wedding to sell national secrets to the Bride's Venezuelan crime family. At first he thought he was going to have to do some fast talking when he was caught breaking into the Best Man's car.  Now he has the perfect excuse to be in the middle of the action and really keep an eye on things. As it turns out, its a good thing, because Beth ends up becoming a target when she sees something she shouldn't have. This was a fun, quick read.  I really enjoyed Beth and Alex's chemistry.  The dialogue between all the characters was natural and fun. I would read the author again and gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.

I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys romances. It has a little bit of everything: suspense, humor, unlikely couples, hot sex. The only complaint is that it's short (around 150 pgs), but hey, there are two more in the series.
