The Wind Witch of Draakensky, A Short Story

Would you like to meet The Wind Witch of Draakensky? Come into the shadows deep inside the wind where magick rules. Discover unseen forces. Darkened secret wind beings. Ghostly shapes crowd the sky and swoop down to hover at your back. Will you fear them? Will you engage them? What mysterious powers might you explore?

Jaa Morland lives on the edge of the world, a sliver outside of time, in Bedford, New York. This old woman is a wind witch and smart as a crack of lightning. She knows powerful river magick. She knows owl magick too. Yet her magick cannot help locate her sister Heida who is lost, or stolen, in the forbidden woods on a menacing autumn night inside the hills and crags of Draakensky Windmill Estate.

Here, thunder mutters. Here, thready phantoms break the sky to reveal themselves like a flock of dead beauties. Jaa must conjure up all her powers to rescue her sister. Witch-weaving wisdom does not come easily this night—as Jaa Morland succumbs to the mysteries of Draakensky that radically change her life forever.

Come experience the shadows inside the winds of Draakensky with Jaa Morland.

REVIEW: "In The Wind Witch of Draakensky, wild magic dances as the wind conjures dragons in the air and the river roars toward treacherous falls. Paula Cappa's painfully beautiful language captures the untamed music of nature as life and death vie in Gothic splendor." —Madelon Wilson, reviewer of over 800+ books in literary criticism at Mad About Books: Reviews by an Eclectic Reader.

REVIEW: "The short story quickly pulls you in with its detailed, sensory descriptions and mysterious characters. The suspenseful ending leaves you craving more—the whole novel. I highly recommend this for Gothic and supernatural readers." —Audrey M. Insoft, Author of Divine Fate.

In this dark, intriguing short story, Paula Cappa sets the ghostly drama for her novel, the Gothic thriller—Draakensky, A Supernatural Tale of Magick and Romance, published by Crystal Lake Publishing, available in paperback and ebook format.

Jon R. Meyers of The Horror Zine reviewed Draakensky as "A powerful, timeless piece of dark fiction. Well-researched, written as top-notch, and contains deep character development. A beautifully haunting supernatural tale. A Gothic setting that is dark and poetic. Factual magick, witchcraft, Arthurian legend, Celtic lore, and more. A book that is different, unique, and stands out loudly from the rest. Highly recommended."

"Paula Cappa is a master of the metaphysical mystery genre ... an extraordinary and original storyteller of the first rank. Midwest Book Review.
