The World Revealed
“What am I doing here?”

Hamish spoke out-loud, but to no one in particular. He was sitting well forward, so that every wave the Ship of the Fleet sliced through tossed spray over his head. Two years earlier, when he’d sailed from Riversea to C’Holm, he’d been told to expect a hard trip to windward and that his job would be to bail. Now he was going the other direction, and yet the conditions were the same. Maybe it was just what you noticed on the first day out. After that everything was uniformly wet. And once you were wet, the cold was all that colder.

About the Author

Jeffrey Morrow Miller currently lives SE Asia and is sailing a 34' sloop singlehanded around the world, slowly. After growing up in southern California, but never spending a single summer at home, he received a BA at UC Santa Cruz and then moved to South Africa.
After finishing a MSc at the University of Cape Town he sailed from South Africa to Florida, through the Panama Canal, across the Pacific to New Zealand, and then Sydney, Australia.
A break in Australia produced a PhD from the Australian National University, Canberra in plant ecophysiology at the Research School of Biological Sciences.
Then it was the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, through the Suez Canal to Turkey, Greece, and the Adriatic to Venice.
With little of interest to the west, he turned eastwards, and spent time in Israel, the Red Sea, India, and Malaysia.
