There and Back Again: Stories from a Combat Navy Corpsman

Doc Jacobs is a retired US Navy corpsman who served eight years until being grievously injured in Iraq while serving with 3/7 (Marines), for which he was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor for his actions in combat. He has dedicated his time out of the Navy to serving his community, service members, and people with disabilities. From Doc's tryouts with several Major League Baseball teams as an amputee to completing over twenty world marathons in the same condition, perseverance and integrity are points of pride for him. Doc Jacobs has also been awarded the Purple Heart and the Tommy Lasorda Veteran of the Year Award, received a personal letter from the forty-third president of the United States, a personal invite to the White House to meet the forty-fourth president of the United States, and been honored by Doc Jacobs Day in San Diego (November 17) and soon with a Gary Sinise Foundation smart home.
