Through My Eyes: A Letter to A Rapist
This book is written as I saw the past five years of my life, through my eyes. A set of life experiences of happiness, trauma, friendships, personal struggles and growth. After I was raped in 2005 by my best friend, I did not know how to cope or where my life would go. Friends chose sides and he denied it. After five years without answers or real conversations, I wrote him a letter asking about the betrayal, results and trying to get answers to the hundreds of questions that went through my mind over the years. Having never sent the letter, I decided to publish it so everyone could know how real rape is and that no matter how long it has been, healing and acceptance are critical. This book is about trauma, coping, the healing process, and relationships. When I reread it, I relive every memory and experience. There are times I cry and times I laugh. However, more times than not, I truly ponder how there are people in the world who hurt others without any repercussions or guilt. This book is not to offend or make accusations; it is to help those who have been through similar trauma so they know they are not alone.

About the Author

I grew up in New Jersey, in the suburbs of New York City, with loving parents and an older brother. At 21 I was on top of the world: an athletic scholarship to a Division I school, life-long friends, a supportive family and dreams of heading into the corporate world after college graduation. I was a young adult filled with passion, love, and a contagious energy that helped me reach so many of my life goals. In the summers I headed to the beach loving every minute, friendship and life experience; that was until the rape. As my life came crashing down around me and friendships were tested and trialed, I rediscovered myself and what it meant to be loved. I learned, and continue to learn, the importance of healthy coping, healing, and acceptance through tears, laughter and friendships. At 26, completing this book was the essence of my healing and I can only hope it helps someone else in their own struggles and trauma. Although, my name is not Pyper Childs, this is my life and experiences as I saw them, through my eyes.
