Through the Lens: A Book of Short Stories
Through the Lens: A Book of Short Stories is about stories that derive from the
heart and were inspired by God, life experiences, and learned principles. All
the stories are based on a female teenager's perception, but do not exclude
the male perspective. The stories will shed light on various issues that young
adults may struggle with, such as isolation, suicide, peer pressure, drugs,
family complications, inadequacy, judgment, and salvation. These stories
are real-life examples compacted with tough lessons and key messages, in
hopes of permeating the minds of the younger generation to find positive
ways to handle the tribulations of life, despite their present circumstances.
Every story is intended to teach all young adults about the significance
of kindness, sacrifice, temperance, and love. With this book, I hope to
provide awareness to the reoccurring problems that most teenagers and
young adults are confronted with.

About the Author

Author Erica Renee Walker is more than what meets the eye. She is also a traumatic brain injury survivor and motivational speaker. By the grace of God, Erica survived her TBI from a gunshot in 2008 and annually does motivational speaking to help other traumatic brain injury survivors cope with their new lifestyle and therapy process. She also speaks to future occupational and physical therapists to help them understand other brain injury survivor’s perspectives during the therapy process. In addition, Erica wanted to continue her scholastic endeavors. In 2012, she graduated with an associate degree in communications from the University of Phoenix, which she attended online. Still not satisfied, she furthered her education. In 2016, she graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree, with honors, in media studies. Not to mention, she is an active member and serves at her local church, Maranatha Church International Saint Louis under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Earl and First Lady Natalie Earl. Erica also enjoys volunteering at the TV station in Saint Louis, Missouri, where she does video editing and assists with the productions. In her leisure time, she loves writing, encouraging others, reading, and watching movies.
