Tiling Games

TILING GAMES

"Tiling Games" contains the rules of play for 18 games each played on a section of a tiling of the plane. Discs numbered {0, ... , 9} are placed on the vertices of the tiling so that they surround a region with a multiple of 5. Larger scoring configurations are based on the concept of nilpotent polygons. The theory of nilpotent polygons is examined in detail in the first three games. For the remainder of the games just the rules and the scoring

configurations are described.

All the games can be constructed easily on mat-board with a ruler, a straight edge, a right angle and a cutting tool. Circular wooden discs and number stamps can be found in a hobby store. The games require mental arithmetic, geometric pattern recognition, circumspection and strategic thinking.
