Overview

In a time of rising danger, women go to war, and ghosts walk the walls...

In the second volume of TIME OF DAUGHTERS, a few years have passed since the Night of Four Kings, when the least expected candidates for rulership found themselves in charge of a disintegrating kingdom.

Threats from the border become raids, led by an idle noble with an eye to kingship. The two princes, Noddy and Connar, newly emerged from the military academy, are dispatched to patrol the troubled area until they find themselves under attack.

Their loyalty to one another is strong, but what happens when one brother discovers a taste for war and the other a loathing for it?

Matters of marriage and love tangle up with the menace of war. But the greatest threat of all comes when the world's strongest army faces enemies from within--watched by the ghosts walking the walls.

This is the concluding half of an epic story of politics, war, family and magic in the beloved world of Sartorias-deles.

About the Author

Sherwood Smith has been trying to trade biographies with someone rich, gorgeous, and charismatic, but until then has to stick with the, uh, less glamorous truth: she studied in Europe before earning a masters in history, afterward working as a governess, a bartender, and an electrical supply verifier—not all at the same time—until she capped quotations of "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" by a screenwriter, who promptly offered her a job. She wore various hats in the film industry, but that was in the days of women hitting the glass ceiling, and so she went back to writing stories that became books.

To date she’s published over forty, one of which was an Anne Lindbergh Honor Book; she’s twice been a finalist for the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award and once a Nebula finalist. Her YA fantasy novel Crown Duel has been in print for over twenty years.
