I found this book a pleasure to read as it had just enough details about the ship to give you a feel of how it was to live and fight aboard a tin can in WWII.

Very Compelling and graphic. My father Donald Palmer served aboard beginging 1945. Heard stories of the Guadalcanal battle so he was very interested. This book really brought it close to home. Reminds us all the sacrafice that was paid for our freedom.
