About the Author

Arianna Eastland is a native New Englander whose fascination with the Native-American culture and history in her area led her to read everything she could on the subject. One book she read alleged that many Pilgrim women who were kidnapped and held for ransom by Native-American warriors opted not to return to their husbands because they became infatuated with their captors. This gave Arianna the idea for her first romance novel, TOO FAR TO WHISPER, set in 17th-Century New England. When she is not writing, Arianna enjoys hiking, traveling and art. She also confesses that one of her guilty pleasures is watching TV reality shows.

This book is 258 pages long. It is well edited. It is in the 1600s just as the English were begining to venture west from New England, in Northern America. A young woman falls in love with a native American, even though she is promised to a man she loathes. Her family, friends and community are horrified. There follows the expected angst, upheavels and conflict, until the expected ending. There some violence, death and sexual stituations. Chick lit, for readers 18 and up. Mature 16 years could ead this also. AD

I truly enjoyed reading about New England and its people back in the 17th century, which I hadn't seen very often in romance novels. The book kept me turning pages, and I was drawn into the growing love (and sexual tension!) of the two main characters. I also have read the sequel, part two of the trilogy, which has some surprising elements, and am really looking forward to reading the third book when it is released.
