The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose by Nakia R Laushaul

The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose breaks down myths and misconceptions about life that threaten to hold the heart captive. Nakia R. Laushaul expresses her views of The Truth about Me and You, Love, God, and Life in powerful poems that make the truth look painfully simple and prose that tenderly draws you into the world as she sees it. The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose beautifully fuses together and creates light after tackling difficult and sometimes taboo topics. Out of pain and anger comes healing. Out of despair and disappointment comes hope. Out of the darkness of lies shines the truth.

Poetess Laushaul has presented the reading public with not only memorable verses, but opportunity to look a little deeper into the well of oneself. Her straight no chaser offerings are presented in a way that provokes, exposes and prayerfully, in some ways will incite a call to action. Her work is entitled 'The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose'. After reading this I believe more will seek truth in its purest form. (Official Apex Reviews Rating: 4.5 Stars) Throughout the pages of The Truth As I See It, author Nakia Laushaul shares with the reader some of the most intimate details of the life she's lived thus far. Chronicling everything from love to friendship to motherhood to continued spiritual development, Laushaul goes into considerable detail as she lays bare the inner workings of her mind and heart. Broken up into four distinct parts, The Truth As I See It is a compelling mix of poetry and prose, all designed to encourage the reader to take a similarly introspective look into all things emotional and spiritual. With a deft literary touch, Laushaul displays a seasoned wisdom as she waxes philosophical on some of the more overlooked aspects of our history and culture. She even gives readers a glimpse into her burgeoning prosaic skills with an eye-opening preview of her upcoming novel, Running From Solace, located at the end of the collection. Taking an unflinching approach to some of our most significant modern folkways and mores, The Truth As I See It is a powerfully insightful literary collection. A recommended read. Thought provoking, riveting and insightful are just a few of the perfect descriptions for this collection. It is a beautiful collage of the author's personal experiences expressed in such a way that every reader will easily see pieces of themselves. It is impossible to read "I am a Tree" and not feel empowered; "The Brink of Submission" and not want to fall in love; "Some Things Take Time" and not see the ways your own life has blossomed over time.

BRINK OF SUBMISSION - Times in our lives, times that never fade from your memory. Straight to the veins and heart, straight into our subconscious. Superbly written..articulate, witty, pure, honest and never ceasing to stimulate. A truly remarkable piece of poetry. I did not want the piece to end. It never fails to dissapoint me each time I read it.
