I really enjoyed this prequel novella to the author's Covent Garden Cubs series. The main characters were sweet, hot and intriguing together. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of this series!

Shana always gives us a good tale. Henry Flynn carries guilt like other men carry confidence. With no wish to believe himself deserving of anyone or anything grand, he does his best to drown his sorrows in drink and live up to the name of Viscount of Vice. The darling Emma Talbot believes him to be one of the best men, if he’d ever take a moment to notice her. When Henry is finally reunited with his long lost brother, Matthew, his guilt over his brother’s state threatens to pull him even deeper into a state of deserving nothing good in his life. Emma is determined to help him see the error of that thinking, and save him from himself. We first met Flynn in the Jewels of the Ton series and Emma is the sister of the Duke of Ravenscroft from SAPPHIRES ARE AN EARL’S BEST FRIEND. Emma has been in love with Flynn for years but always felt like she went completely unnoticed by the handsome man. When she comes of age, she gains Henry’s notice but now she feels it’s too late because he is steeped in his own wallowing guilt. What she doesn’t realize is that Henry has always noticed her, and lusts for her. I liked Emma a lot. She’s not the average young lady of the ton looking simply to marry a wealthy man of title. She’s got an independent nature and enjoys her volunteer work at the hospital. We are introduced to an element of mystery, which I suspect will carry through into the series, when Emma and Flynn are pulled away to Bath and become embroiled in a dramatic rescue surrounding his brother. It was rather delightful to have the setting take us out of London to the sleepy town where a dark side is revealed. I don’t wish to tell you more for it would be too easy to reveal the whole story. I highly recommend reading VISCOUNT OF VICE by Shana Galen as it is driven by action from the first pages to the last - some funny things happen too. If you’ve read the Jewels of the Ton, you most certainly will thrill to Flynn and Emma’s story and be left wanting more in the Covent Garden Cubs series which leads off with the full length, EARLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN, already available and on my reading list. If you haven’t experienced the exciting stories of lords and ladies, spies, and bow runners conjured by Shana Galen, then get your first taste with VISCOUNT OF VICE…you’ll be hooked forever. ***purchased for my own personal reading but sharing an honest and unscripted review.

This was a very good novella. I liked it and the lead in to the new series. It is a stand alone story but I expect the character of Brook will show up in all of this series. I recommend it.

A sweet, funny romantic story that has me looking forward to this new series. I loved the characters and the relationship between Emma and Flynn. The story moves at a fast pace although it didn’t feel rushed and it kept me interested throughout. Loved it and looking forward to more!

This charming historical romance had a bit of everything that I like about the genre - a dashing rakish hero, a bold adventurous virgin heroine, and a mystery plot complete with long lost missing family member. The setting was well detailed and the character backgrounds were well described for a novella length story. I really liked Emma, who has had a crush on Flynn for many years and takes the opportunity now that she's eighteen to show him her interest. Flynn was quite the character, known for his outrageous behavior but willing to tame things down to be the man that Emma deserves. Their love scenes were sweet and steamy. The dialogue was witty and amusing and the overall feeling of the story, despite some more serious scenes was lighthearted and fun. I'm looking forward to the upcoming books in this series. 4 stars.

This is book 0.5 in the Covent Garden Cubs series. Henry Flynn, Lord Chesham, is surprised to see that his best friend's sister is all grown up. Even though he is very attracted to Lady Emma Talbot, he has promised his friend to keep away from her which proves to be difficult. After believing his brother dead for many years, Henry is informed that his brother has been found. Even though he has been found, Henry blames himself for his disappearance. Because of this, he believes that he is not good enough for someone like Emma. Emma has been in love with Henry since she was 16.  Now out in society she compares every man she meets to him and finds them lacking. Known for helping those in need, she is soon helping Henry with his brother. Can Emma convenience Henry that he is good enough for her so they get their HEA? I've loved all of Galen's work and this did not disappoint! This is a great introduction to her new series and I can't wait to read it.

This is a fun witty prequel to Shana Galen's new Coventry Garden Cubs. It features Emma Talbot and Henry Flynn, Lord Chesham, the Viscount of Vice. They have known each other for many years, and have resisted their attraction to each other because she is the little sister of Henry's friend. Eventually Emma gets her chance to act on her feelings and their adventure starts. This was a fun, well written novella that left me wanting to know more about the future books. I have enjoyed many of Shana Galen's books and look forward reading more. I was given a free copy for a honest review by sourcebooks and netgalley.

I received an ARC from Net Galley for an honest review. Since I have been a fan of Shana Galen’s for several years,  I looked forward to reading Viscount of Vice with great anticipation. Again, as always, Ms. Galen did not disappoint me. I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful tale of attraction, amidst mayhem and chaos. This great story has a bit of everything as this author’s books tend to have, laughter, high adventure and plenty of passion.  As a reader, I greatly appreciate the fact that I can always count on Shana Galen to deliver a book consistent with her usual style. Now I do not mean her stories are predictable in the least, just that I know what type of book it will be, in the  sense that it will involve intrigue and danger with a fulfilling ending. Flynn, as all his friends call him, even though he has recently become Viscount Chesham, is a swashbuckling kind of  hero with a bit of the bad boy thrown in. He is fun-loving, yet at times a bit vulnerable. This is the kind of hero, Ms. Galen  writes so well. From the first kiss to the culmination of their love, I could feel the passion between the hero and the heroine.  Flynn yearns for Lady Emma, but knows he does not deserve her, having lived a life of debauchery and recklessness.  From the first moment he meets her, when she is still a young lady, barely sixteen, he is drawn to her as a moth to a flame, but he stays away. After all, he is nine years older and has no business being attracted to her. When he meets her two years  later, he is immediately captivated by her beauty and strong will, which is apparent from their first encounter. Emma has loved Flynn from the first moment she saw him at her brother’s wedding, judging all men by him and finding them  lacking, during her first season. When Flynn flirts with her, but then withdraws, she follows him and accepts his challenge of  a kiss. She is lost from that first brush of his lips. Even though she initiated the kiss, he sweeps her up in his arms and takes  over, causing her desire to soar. Their embrace is interrupted and thus starts the high adventure of the story. Will the budding  flames of attraction grow as they meet the danger that awaits them, or will it flicker out when reality comes crashing down? As is the norm with Ms. Galen’s books, I was drawn into the story from the first page and remained that way until the last page.  I know this is a short story, but I would have liked to see a bit more plot development. Nonetheless, a delightful read with a satisfying HEA at the end. To make it more believable, she includes a glimpse of their life a couple months after their marriage.  I do wonder if she will do a spin-off for Flynn’s brother. I think his story would make another excellent book, so much potential is there. I am so glad I had the opportunity to read this intriguing little gem of a story and look forward to the next adventure Ms. Galen takes  me on. If you enjoy stories that are light-hearted with lots of excitement set in the Regency period, then this is one you will not want  to miss. Happy reading!

Nice historical romance I received an advance reader edition of this book from Sourcebooks Casablanca via Net Galley for the purpose of providing an honest review. 4 Stars! I completely enjoyed this novella. I was able to read it in just a couple of hours and was immediately pulled into the story. Some novella length pieces feel rushed or incomplete but that was not the case with this story. There was a whole lot of story packed into these few pages. I was immediately drawn to the characters and found myself grinning several times. Flynn Chesham is known as the Viscount of Vice, a title he has earned through his behavior. The story opens with a scene that illustrates how this nickname was earned and I immediately knew that Flynn was going to be a character that I would enjoy. Viscount Chesham finds himself in Bath in his quest to find his long lost brother, Robert. Lady Emma has met Viscount Chesham before but now she is finally eighteen. Flynn and Emma are drawn to each other at a ball and share a dance. At the end of the ball, they share a kiss before the night takes a dramatic turn. As the pair works to locate Flynn's brother, they find themselves in danger. I thought that this novella was very well written. The plot moved forward quite nicely and the characters were likable and realistic. I liked the chemistry between the pair and thought that the dialog was outstanding. The plot of this story was nicely contained within the novella. I do wish that Flynn had been a bit younger. I do realize that it was quite common for ladies to marry much older men during this time period but I still do not like the thought of a man in his twenties looking at a 15 year old girl. I would recommend this novella to anyone who enjoys historical romances. This is a great piece to read when you would like a complete story in a single sitting. This was actually the first piece that I have read by Shana Galen but I will definitely be reading from this author in the future.

Viscount of Vice is a great introduction to a new series.  It has set the stage for some fun, adventure, and a lot of romance.  Henry Flynn is a bit of a scoundrel and the opening scene really sets the stage for his personality.  It was perfect!  He didn't seem to have a care in the world for his reputation - let them talk.  We later find the reason for this and it's a very important part of the story. Lady Emma couldn't be more different if she tried.  But she does have a bit of spark to her.  She's not your typical miss or she would have never caught Flynn's eye to begin with long ago.  However, neither of them intended for her to get caught up in his problems. This problem is quite exciting and very emotional for Flynn and his family.  It's hard to say much without giving away some of the best parts of the story.  There was tons of excitement for a novella.  The downside is, I really think this would have been better with a little more to it.  I wish I could have seen more about Flynn's past and maybe some insight into how his brother lived.  It would have rounded it all out better for me. *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

The Viscount of Vice seems a fitting nickname for Henry Flynn, Lord Chesham, even though he has been secretly in lust with the lovely Lady Emma Talbot; he just dares not soil her reputation by dallying with her. Lady Emma however is not so secretive; she overtly tells Flynn, as the Viscount is commonly known, that she loves him. But before anything even remotely romantic happens, Flynn gets news that his brother Robert, whom he had thought dead for many years, has resurfaced. Robert vanished when he was four years old and hadn’t been heard of since, and for very unfortunate reasons. And so the adventures begin!  Again, Shana Galen’s does not disappoint! VISCOUNT OF VICE is the introduction to the author’s new series, Covent Garden Cubs, and it’s a smashing start! As expected, there is romance, beautiful writing, great characters, and Ms. Galen introduces some of society’s dark elements as well. Great introduction to a new romantic, swashbuckling series!

I liked this story. Shana does a good job planning her story line. Everything flows nicely and then it is the end. I didn't want it to end! She also can make the people in her books as real as you and me. Henry, the Viscount of Vice, is hard on himself. He lost his younger brother when Henry was in charge of Robbie at 5years. Spoiler. There is someone Henry loves but won't admit. Emma, the daughter of a Duke, loves someone she met when 15. Now she is older. Henry learns his brother is alive. Spoiler here. You will come across a kidnapping, rescue and family restored. I hope you decide to give this book a chance. Please enjoy this book!  I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.

This is a short and sweet novella, introducing us to Shana Galen’s newest series, Covent Garden Cubs, about a group of street criminals. I see some shades of Lorraine Heath’s Scoundrels of St. James series, about a group of ragtag ruffian thieves, but set during the Regency era. Flynn, Lord Chesham, notoriously known as the Viscount of Vice, is a rake in every sense of the word. He sleeps with married women, gambles recklessly, and gets drunk often. But, deep inside, he doesn’t really like his life. It’s a balm to numb a very painful childhood that saw the kidnapping of his younger brother, Robert (Robbie), the devastation of his parents’ marriage, and the aftermath and impact of that experience on his formative years. So when he finds out that Robbie has been found in Bath by Sir Brook Derring, brother to an earl and a Bow Street runner, he can’t believe it but he cannot discount the possibility.  At a ball in Bath, Lady Emma Talbot, sister to the Duke of Ravenscroft, spies Flynn, one of her brother’s oldest friends. He is her first and only crush and true love, and she refuses to wait a moment longer to let Flynn know how she feels. But Flynn has already been warned off Emma by his friend, despite his longtime attraction to her. They steal a very passionate kiss in the garden before Flynn receives the news of his brother’s discovery and, together, they set off to find him. The sexual tension between Emma and Flynn heats up the pages. During their dangerous adventure, they get to know each other again and also share more kisses. Though he’s the Viscount of Vice, with Emma, however, Flynn refuses to compromise her, despite the fact that once they’re discovered alone together overnight, he will have to offer for her. But Emma wants Flynn’s love, not his obligation. As in all her enjoyable stories, Galen writes with an infectious energy, charm, and feeling. Her characters are likable and realistic and her sense of the time period is well captured and described.  A great little introduction to a new series. Earls Just Want to Have Fun comes out in February.

Great Novella! This is a great regency Novella! I loved it and read it one sitting. Henry Flynn, the new Lord Chesham has always blamed himself for his brother’s disappearance. Henry and his brother were playing hide and go seek when they were children when his brother Robert disappeared. He has been a path of destruction ever since. Henry is visited by runner who tells him that his brother is alive and living in an opium den which is run by an evil man. Henry sets off to find his brother. While home he attends a ball where he sees Lady Emma and knows that he should stay away from her. But he has been attracted to her since he first saw her at her brother’s wedding. Lady Emma has also been in love with Henry since she first saw him; however he keeps pushing her away since he is friends with her brother. She is determined to show him how much she wants him. I am looking forward to the next books in this series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Fantastic debut! Another great story by Shana Galen. I really enjoyed the Viscount of Vice! What a great introduction to Ms. Galen's Covent Garden Cubs series. It's a high drama with characters filled with strong emotions. I couldn't be more please with the beautiful love story of Henry Flynn, a tormented soul broken by a past dark secret and Emma Talbot, a woman secretly in love with a man who doesn't dare approach her. Flynn, being afflicted by his past, lost the will to survive, so he decided the best way to achieve it, was to drink himself to death and gamble. But Emma loves him so much, that she will try to find out his dark secret and help him gain back to will to live. You have to read it, I guarantee you will spend hours of pleasure following Flynn and Emma's daily lives. One stolen kiss did it's magic and Flynn caught Emma's heart. Will her love and passion change this tormented man? I love Shana Galen's writing, she is such a talented writer of Regency historical romances! You will enjoy a fantastic suspense filled with tenderness, passion, mystery and intrigue. Don't miss the first book Earl's just want to have fun in her new series Covent Garden Cubs. I really enjoyed reading this short novella!

I'm gonna love this new book series if they are all like this. I love when a story has a surprise, something unexpected in store for the reader. I really enjoyed this book, the characters are fun, and who doesn't love a Viscount like Flynn! The Viscount of vice indeed! Lady Emma is charming and beautiful, and her brother is the very overprotective Duke of Ravenscroft. Flynn has been warned off by the Duke, which of course makes her all the more interesting. I enjoy Author Shana Galen's books and this one did not disappoint. I am looking forward to the next Covent Garden Cubs book.
