As a named beneficiary in the estate of Samuel W. Westing, your attendance tomorrow is required in the South library of the Westing mansion at 4p.m. for the reading of the will. This is the letter that changed the lives of 16 Westing heirs. The The Westing Game is a must read Newberry awarded mystery book by Ellen Raskin. I loved the clues given, while reading The Westing Game. The clues didn't give anything away, but were helpful when solving the mystery on your own. In every chapter you find more hidden clues, within the story. When you solve the mystery it is like playing the game with the characters in the book, which is really fun. When reading to solve the mystery you get so involved with your book, so it helps having great clues. I love how Ellen Raskin worked to create such different characters. No one should want to read a book where the characters all have the same personality. An example of some characters would be Turtle a young girl who is usually pretty tough, and is known for kicking people who mess with her. She is not what you might expect for a thirteen year old girl. Another example would be Otis Amber. He is a 68 year old delivery man, with a personality you may not expect for his age. I think the differences in The Westing Game characters make the story all the better. The Westing Game was an amazing book. I liked the clues given in the story, and how Ellen Raskin worked to make such different characters. You should read this book because it is a fun mystery for both adults and kids to enjoy. Benny13

I read this book when I was in fifth grade, and I didn't really pay much thought to it other than thinking, "It was a good book, I guess". But 3 years later (I'm now an eighth grader), I saw it at barnes and noble and figured why not buy it? I am so, so, so glad I did. The Westing Game is a really quick read, which is good because you don't want to put it down. But also, it's one of those books that doesn't become fantastic until you read it a second time. Then, you realize how clever it really is. You laugh at yourself for not noticing the now-obvious clues, and you get to know the characters a lot better. I absolutely loved it, and highly recommend it to anyone!

Imagine being invited to live somewhere by a mysterious delivery boy, having no idea you were in for the most thrilling game of you life. The Westing Game, by Ellen Raskin, is an action- packed book. With one exciting event after another, The Westing Game keeps you on the edge of your seat. Raskin uses her writing style of intricately weaving details to the highest level, really making you believe you are playing the Westing Game. Read this attention-grabbing, Newberry Award Winning book and find out about the 16 recipients who are brought to the old Westing estate, paired, and given a set of strange clues. The story magnifies as true identities are revealed, and the clues are put together like puzzle pieces.but the clock is ticking! In The Westing Game, I loved how all of the characters were so different from each other. Although they are all heirs of Sam Westing, they have different personalities, ideas, opinions, styles, views, and even nationalities. The heirs are brought from their own homes to be paired when they don't even know each other! Some of the strangest beneficiaries are Madame Hoo, who is from China, and only speaks Chinese, and Sydelle Pulaski, who wasn't even meant to be in the Westing Game! It's great to have so many different characters in one book because it makes the volume so entertaining to read. I enjoyed The Westing Game's mystery. Throughout the whole book, the riddle of Sam Westing intensifies. Four bombs are set off in Sunset Towers. As clues are figured out, every pair of heirs wants to know more and more about what they don't have- some even resort to stealing! Other peculiar happenings include false identities and one heir spying on another. Even though discovering so many interesting details may be confusing, the whole puzzle added immensely to the format of The Westing Game. Overall, The Westing Game is elaborately detailed, has a great plot, and is definitely a MUST read. This book was mysterious and suspenseful at the same time- fitting in the odd characters as well. In my opinion, The Westing Game should be given Two- Thumbs-Up. This is an impossible book to pass up. Cellia50

The book Westing Game by Ellen Raskin was great! The book was funny and suspenseful. It is one of the best mystery novels I have ever read. Even if you don't like mysteries you will like Westing Game. The book is about a famous man named Sam Westing, who died and the sixteen heirs to his fortunate have to find out who murdered him. The book can get confusing with all the heirs but if you write their names down it makes it a little easier to remember who's who. All in all, the book was very fascinating and definitely a great book to read.

The Westing Game was good but it wasted too much time with the characters. The book is set in numerous locations, but it mostly took place in Sunset Tower, a large hotel. The book ties into Sam Westing a former Multi-millionare. The book is filled with tons of deadly action and suspense. The incredble description will keep you coming back for more. But on the downside there are too many characters and the only way to keep track of them is to write them down and add a little description. All in all it was a good book and I would recommend it for literary circles and independent reading.

This is a very suspencful and mystery-filled book. I would call it un-put-downable! It's about 16 heirs invited to 'Samuel Westing''s reading of his will, where they all join the adventures of The Westing Game!

The Westing Game, a funny spectacular mystery, is well thought out and exciting. This difficult adventure starts when the dead body of Sam Westing, the million air, is found. When sixteen heirs come to the reading of the will where they begin a game. The winner of the game will win the inheritance, but this game is not normal. Just remember every one is not who they say they are.

This ecentric novel kept me on the edge of my seat and I complained to my teacher that I had to stop every day. =0 The characters in the book aren't who they say they are. There are many accusations of a murderer in in the mind boggling mystery. I give Ellen Raskin and A+++++++++++ for the books extreme abilty to trap you into it's transparant cage. I recommend this book for every body that can even read!
