About the Author

Sabrina Jeffries is the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of several Regency-set historical romance series, including the Royal Brotherhood, the School for Heiresses, the Hellions of Halstead Hall, the Duke’s Men, and the Sinful Suitors. When she’s not writing in a coffee-fueled haze, she’s traveling with her husband, caring for her adult autistic son, or indulging in one of her passions: jigsaw puzzles, chocolate, music, and costume parties. With more than nine million books in print in twenty languages, the North Carolina author never regrets tossing aside a budding career in academics for the sheer joy of writing fun fiction and hopes that one day a book of hers will end up saving the world. She always dreams big.

When Sparks Fly by Sabrina Jeffries is one my favorite stories that she has written. This book is the story of two lost people discovering love. This is a simple story of finding a soulmate when not looking. A must read. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

A QUICKIE WITH EXPLOSIVE NAUGHTINESS GALORE! Ellie Bancroft is a plain bookish girl with a fortune for a dowry & can only attract fortune hunters, but she went to The School of Heiresses & learned how to spot a hunter from a mile away. After her disastrous Season, she just wants to get home, but she is stuck babysitting her "never sit still" young cousins & a friend, in tow, across the English countryside in a itsy bitsy carriage! When a carriage accident breaks her Aunt Alys' leg, they are rescued by a dirty rude man for help & shelter. What they get is the Black Baron, who supposedly killed his older brother for the title. All Martin wants is for the loud brats, their mom & the curvy heiress Ellie to leave his estate ASAP, but he has a meddling butler who soon causes mayhem. So we have "seeking trouble" kids between the ages of 11 to 5, a grumpy & rude Martin, sweet smelling Ellie, Christmas decoration from HADES, passionate fighting leading into pantie melting kisses, a barn filled with explosives, light filling his dark home, meddling butler, Hugget, causing much needed havoc & a night of tangled sheets, lips & limbs! Can Martin believe he is worthy of Ellie's love? Is Ellie able to defy her family for her Black Baron? Did Martin killed his brother? Was it an accident? How much meddling will Hugget do for his pseudo son? Does anything explode besides Ellie & Martin? I have always loved Ms. Jeffries School of Heiresses & I was thrilled to find book #4.5. Her writing style of HILARIOUSNESS aplenty, great characters, lots of meddling & opposites attract romance will always make me hit that EVIL BUY BUTTON! Ellie may of been plain, but she finally learned she deserved her everything & she had to fight on many fronts to get Martin in her life. Martin was a deeply scarred hero with guilt eating him up from the inside & out, but his heart was never able to completely close because Hugget kept bombing his heart's wall with his own fatherly love. Now this romance would never of happened without Hugget meddling & his half truths galore, so he is the FAIRY GODDUDE in this tale. The kids were the comedians of this tale & Ms. Jeffries is a genius adding Charlie Dickens into her story & his ending line was perfectly played! This was a quickie romance, but Ms. Jeffries didn't skip the NAUGHTINESS with yummy undies scorching kisses & EXPLOSIVE action when they finally made it to a bed! Ms. Jeffries was the author I cut my romance baby teeth on & she will always have a special place in my heart, but she totally EARNS my top score of 5 fingers up & 10 toes & I can't wait to read more of her powerful & heart warming romances in my future! NetGalley ARC given for my honest review.

I received this book as an ARC from Netaglley for my honest review. My honest opinion is that this was a very cute Christmas novel. It was light and very fun to read, the plot was very simple and straight to the point. I did not feel like I lost any content because it was a novella. Elinor may have been plain and bookish in the eyes of many but to me she was had a very open heart and was strong enough to stand beside a man like the Black Baron. Lord Martin Thorne AKA the Black Baron is very misunderstood. No one knows the truth of his past but is very quick to judge him. Elinor sees him for who he is and is ready for the challenge. Elinor was classy and a lady in front of others but she was not afraid to experience anything and everything that Martin threw her way. If you want a classic romance to bundle up with during this cold winter then this is definitely the book for you!

The Black Baron is too melodramatic for my image of a hero. However, the story was different enough that my attention was held. Ms. Jeffries has written much better books.
