CHAPTER 1

My grandma lives far away from us in another city and in another state.

She writes us letters. Letters are like e-mail or texts except they are written on paper and aren't on the computer.

The mailman brings them to us and puts them in our mailbox.

It's fun to get these letters. Sometimes they are for me or my baby brother. Sometimes they are just for mommy and daddy.

But when you do get a letter from grandma it is always a surprise!

When you get a letter from grandma, you never know what she might say.

Sometimes she tells you a funny joke like: What is the definition of a caterpillar? ......... A worm in a fur coat!

Sometimes she tells us great news, like she is coming for a visit. (I like those letters best because I miss her so much.)

Sometimes she writes really strange things.

Like the one time, she asked me if she could bring along a "hippolatamonamus" when she came to visit us.

This worried me a lot. I saw a movie with one of those in it.

Hippolatamonamus's take up A LOT of room! I already hate sharing my room with my baby brother!
